AUGUSTA BOXING CLUB TO ENTER TWO BOXERS!

(Sept 21) The Augusta Boxing club
will enter two boxers, Rayonta Whitfield, 106, and Jason
Pinckney, 139, in the upcoming National Police Athletic League
Championships Sept 30-Oct 5th at the Warren Rd Gym AT 300 Warren RD,
Monday through Wed that week will have a noon and 6PM session with three
rings competing at the same time with approximately 30 matches in each
ring for each session, from Thursday through Sat there will be only a 6PM
session with all champions crowned on Saturday, Oct 5th at 6 PM.
There are currently over 400 boxers (all very experienced) from the
entire US ,male and female age 13-adult (open division), including the
Military teams , entered in the tournament which determines the 2002
National Champ, in addition the winners will receive a birth in the 2003
USA Boxing National Championships next Spring .Ray is the current National
Golden Gloves Champion and is ranked #2 Nationally by USA Boxing in the
106 lb. class and has already received a birth in the 2003 USA Boxing
Nationals.
Jason has been a numerous winner at state and regional competitions for
the Augusta Boxing club. He is a senior at ARC and Ray is a 2000 graduate
of Crosscreek High in Augusta .Ray's mother is MRS Sabrina Morgan and
Jason's mother is MRS Marva Kyler, both boxers have been with the Augusta
boxing Club for several years .Tickets are available at the gate for $5
adult and $2 children ,The event is sponsored be the City of Augusta and
the Augusta Recreation Department and is sanctioned be the Georgia Amateur
Boxing Assn. INC. of Atlanta ,The event is expected
to bring well over " 2" Million dollars to the local economy for

International Amateur Boxing Assn. will be conducting testing for
International level officials certification ,The Augusta boxing Club will
have Mrs. Linda De La Paz taking the test for the certification,
Clinicians that will be conducting this testing will be from Wales and
Scotland .The tournament is being facilitated be the Augusta Recreation
Department in addition to numerous area volunteers and sponsors. Tom
