welterweight bout, WIBF Intercontinental Welterweight champion, West Palm
Beach, Karla Redo won an unanimous decision over Cynthia Jones,
Miami. Other results: In the main event David Lewter KO2 53
seconds Kenworth Minus; Daniel Zudah defeated Carlos
Viloria by six-round decision in a light-heavyweight bout; Daniel
Edouard decision over Prescott Gray in a six-round middleweight
bout; Andre Eason decision over Rudy Lunsford; and Timur
Ibragimov decision over Lee Howard.

SAN JOSE (SEPT 27) Last night at the Compag
Arena,
in the main event event, Jose "Cuate" Celaya from
Salinas, CA, outboxed and outclassed Darrell Sukerow, Portland, OR,
to win a unanimous 10 round decision. Celaya, the current NABO
welterweight champion and managed by "Sugar" Shane Moseley,
dominated the fight from the outset using an effective jab and
counter-punching. Jose tried to end matters in the final round, landing
several big left hooks, but was unable to put down his gutsy opponent.
Sukerow showed a strong chin and was never knocked down. By the end of the
bout Darrell's right eye was closed by the repeated shots. Final scoring
was 100-90, 100-90 and 99-91. With Mosely in attendance, Celaya improves
16-1, 7 KO's while Sukerow drops to 10-9, 3 KO's.

Suliaman, after a Manhattan Federal Court jury awarded Graciano
Rocchigiani $30 million in his lawsuit against the sanctioning
organization last week. Rocchigiani won after a jury determined that the
WBC wrongfully took away the WBC light-heavyweight title from him and gave
it back to Roy Jones Jr. after Jones had vacated it in 1997.

judgment against the World Boxing Council when a Manhattan jury agreed
that he was cheated out of his claim to the light-heavyweight
championship, his attorney said yesterday. Graciano Rocchigiani,
38, was awarded the decision Friday afternoon in U.S. District Court, said
his lawyer, Richard Dolan. The jury deliberated less than five
hours before awarding the veteran boxer $7.8 million in compensatory

receives life sentence
(Sept 22) 52-year old Boxer Floyd "Jumbo" Cummings has been
sentenced to life after he apparently became a "three strikes you’re
out" criminal. Cummings was most noted for his 1981 fight against Joe
Frazier, when they had a controversial draw. Cummings last brush with the
law involved an armed robbery where he and a cohort robbed a sandwich shop
with his partner in crime wielding a baseball bat. Cummings had duck-taped
the victims mouth. Cummings blames his woes on drug addiction. Cummings
previous convictions include doing 13 years in the slammer for
"murder" and another armed robbery three years after fighting
Frazier in 1984. Joe Frazier’s son told news sources, "I’m very
sorry to hear about him. It’s very sad because boxers tend to be heroes,
he could have made something of himself."

(25-3). He’s not only popular but in a class with the elite of boxing.

boxing champ sentenced Michael Spinks was sentenced to a year probation
after he pled guilty for a fight he had with his girlfriend on November
12, 2000, in Greenville, Delaware. two years previously. The official
charge that Spinks was sentenced to was for a misdemeanor, "offensive
touching" that was reduced from an original felony third degree
assault.

As Clinton Woods entered the room, the
boxing fans went into a frenzy as he approached the area where the scale
was located. Shortly thereafter, Roy Jones Jr. make his entrance with his
entourage of the Jones team. First to weigh in was Woods, who came in at
174 lbs. Roy Jones Jr. weighed in at 174.5. Winky Wright, 153 ¾ vs.

Robertson returns to the Lucky Eagle Casino after pounding Luis
Tyson Vasquez in a first round victory in July to face another
experienced fighter. Rudy Lovato says he will win this 10 round
"Main Event" as "Robertson is not in my class."
Robertson is known for his furious attacking style and a powerful knockout
punch. This "Main Event" will be the fourth at the Lucky Eagle
Casino for Robertson, who hails from Portland. Remaining bouts are as

was a witness to the anguish of some of New York City's firemen shortly
