THE SQUARE RING
October 26, 2002 -by Howie Reed
In boxing it’s a given that boxer’s from different countries or ethnic groups carry the traits of that group into the ring. Mexican , Thai and Filipino fighters have the reputation of never taking a step backward, take two punches to land one and have great hearts. The latter trait, if one choose, could be traced to the Greek custom of "going out on your shield." Please no cards or letters, I know none of the groups descended directly from Greeks. Editorial

(OCT 14) At the Rose Quarter in Portland, Oregon, HBO will have their first HBO Boxing Show for the year 2003, with Vernon Forrest vs. TBD as the main event, and the undercard to feature cruiserweights Vassily Jiroy and #1 contender James Toney.
