over $103,000 for back child support on Thursday after spending two nights
in Los Angeles County Jail.
"Two nights in jail made him a believer," said Sage Eastman, spokesman for
Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox, who is trying to make child support

Commission's test proposal helpful, costly
(MAY 29) There were two boxing cards in Las
Vegas on Friday, the regular monthly card at the Orleans and another at the
Aladdin. Thirteen fighters on those cards earned a purse of $800 or less.
Yet on Friday, the Nevada Athletic Commission will debate a proposal that
will require those fighters to pay an additional $425 in medical testing.

many boxing fans my age, and that means those who saw Floyd Patterson
fight an eight-round main event in Brooklyn's Eastern Parkway Arena
because he wasn't old enough to be licensed to fight ten rounds, "the
Garden"
can mean only one thing. Its the arena that was on 50th Street and 8th
Avenue in New York City and it was the Mecca of boxing in the forties and

Upcoming Event in Rochester!
(MAY 15) On Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 7:00pm, Seattle's Tim Shocks returns
to the Lucky Eagle Casino for the first time since 1999 to face Fight Night
40 winner, Alejandro Jimenez in the 10 round Main Event. Shocks lost to
Julio Garcia in June of 1999, and will have a tough test against Jimenez,
who KO'd Ruben Munoz in the April main event. Shocks comes in with 23 wins,
including 14 KO's. Alejandro, from Guadalajara, Mexico has 13 wins, six by
KO. There are seven bouts scheduled on this card.
Nordin injured! (MAY 14) The re-match for the WBA
INTERNATIONAL - E.B.A. 168 lbs. Title
between FRANCISCO MORA vs. FIGHTING NORDIN
scheduled on next May 31st in Frankfurt Oder (Germany) will probably have to
be postponed due to a hand injury from Challenger Fighting Nordin, as
reported by German Promoter Sauerland Events. Yesterday afternoon during his
training camp in Holland Nordin had to go to the hospital due to this
injury, though we still do not know the seriousness of it. Next week he will
visit again to the doctor and will know when he will be able to train again.

small town of Ailey, Georgia. His birthplace was one, maybe the only, of the
small town elements about the man who was known throughout his career as

blow today (Tuesday 6th May) by the news of Jimmy Albertini's death.
Following a quadruple bypass heart operation two months ago, the popular
Rotunda ABC and England coach suffered a heart attack early on Tuesday
morning. He was 53.

A QUEENSLAND boxer who died after being knocked out in the ring should
never have been allowed to fight an Australian champion, his stand-in
trainer said yesterday.
Ahmad Popal had fought and lost just two bouts before his fatal clash with
Australian junior bantamweight champion Tony Pappa for the Victorian
