(JULY 31) At the Desert Diamond Casino in Tucson, Arizona, a give and take affair saw IBA rated contender Ernesto 'Baby' Zepeda win the IBA Continental Jr. Welterweight title by split decision over local favorite Norberto Bravo. In the chief support Oscar Andrade met old nemesis Paolino Villalobos and won a convincing decision over twelve rounds to claim the IBA Continental Bantamweight title. Sanchez dies after fighting in bout in Nevada (JULY 7) On Saturday, Martin “The Firefighter” Sanchez, 26, from Mexico City, died at Valley Hospital Medical Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, just hours after being knocked out by Russian boxer, Rustam Nugaev.  Sanchez fought on Friday night, and all seemed well until he was walking strangely according to news sources.  He was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency brain surgery.
