Friday, August 26th, at the Radisson Hotel, in Sacramento,
California, Valanna McGee, 134, won a unanimous six
round decision over Tracy Byrd, 132, in an entertaining
bout at the Radisson Hotel in Sacramento, CA. Tracy went at Valanna
the entire fight and established the pace but Valanna landed the
more meaningful punches. There were no knockdowns. The judges scored
the fight 60-54, 59-55 and 59-55. McGee improves her record to
11-2-1 while Byrd drops to 13-9-1. World champion Jessica Rakoczy

California, Julio Diaz of Mexico KO’d Russell Stoner Jones in the
first round. Diaz, now 32-3-0 (24KO), just took less than two
minutes (1:59) to stop Jones. Jones, now 19-12-0 (14KO), got hit

Sanchez dies
after fighting in bout in Nevada

Saturday, Martin “The Firefighter” Sanchez, 26, from Mexico City,
died at Valley Hospital Medical Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, just
hours after being knocked out by Russian boxer, Rustam Nugaev.
Sanchez fought on Friday night, and all seemed well until he was
walking strangely according to news sources. He was rushed to the
hospital and underwent emergency brain surgery.
