(AUG 28) On Friday, August 26th, at the Radisson Hotel, in Sacramento, California, Valanna McGee, 134,  won a unanimous six round decision over Tracy Byrd, 132,  in an entertaining bout at the Radisson Hotel in Sacramento, CA. Tracy went at Valanna the entire fight and established the pace but Valanna landed the more meaningful punches. There were no knockdowns. The judges scored the fight 60-54, 59-55 and 59-55. McGee improves her record to 11-2-1 while Byrd drops to 13-9-1. World champion Jessica Rakoczy was on hand to support Tracy Byrd.

(AUG 22) On Saturday, at the Isle of Capri Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, and promoted by Prize Fight Promotions, in the main event, Ann “Brown Sugar” Wolfe, 167, settled the score when she soundly defeated Valerie “The Wolfe” Mahfood, 165, with a 10-round unanimous decision in what was properly called “The Trilogy”. Ann Wolfe successfully defended her IBA Light Heavyweight title. This was the third match for the two, in where Mahfood defeated Wolfe in the first match by KO. Klitschko to fight Rahman

Diaz makes it a short night

(AUG 10) Last night in Pendleton, California, Julio Diaz of Mexico KO’d Russell Stoner Jones in the first round. Diaz, now 32-3-0 (24KO), just took less than two minutes (1:59) to stop Jones.  Jones, now 19-12-0 (14KO), got hit with a heavy left hook to the right eye.  Diaz told local news sources, "I wasn't surprised it ended so quickly".

Sanchez dies after fighting in bout in Nevada (JULY 7) On Saturday, Martin “The Firefighter” Sanchez, 26, from Mexico City, died at Valley Hospital Medical Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, just hours after being knocked out by Russian boxer, Rustam Nugaev.  Sanchez fought on Friday night, and all seemed well until he was walking strangely according to news sources.  He was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency brain surgery.
