Press Conference Quotes
“Bad” Chad Dawson – “There were times when I didn’t think Jimmy could do
this, but he did it (hold a show in New Haven)and I’m excited about the
whole card. Training has been going real good. I ran some tough hills
today and by legs are burning. Providence is my second home and whenever
I’ve fought here I’ve been comfortable. The people here have always
shown me a lot of love.”
Joey “KO Kid” Spina (via phone from Las Vegas): “I’m really excited
about coming home to fight in my first co-feature. It’s a big step up.
I’m in tip-top shape training out here (Las Vegas). It’s an honor to be
on Chad’s card. I’ll try to get in a few rounds, show some head
movement, but the bottom line is this guy’s going to sleep.”
Jason “Big Six” Estrada – “It’s crazy to watch Peter (Manfredo, Jr.) and
Jeff (Fraza) on TV (“The Contenders) and now they’re up here with us.
There are a lot of good fights on this show.”
Matt Godfrey – “Chad is an incredible fighters and there’s going to be a
lot of press on him fighting at home. I’m good inside the ring; I don’t
have to tell you. I’m glad to be fighting on the same card as Jason, the
future heavyweight champion of the world. I train every day with Peter
Manfredo, Jr. and his work ethic is unmatched. We’ve all trained
together (Manfredo, Estrada and Godfrey) for about 10 years. Hopefully,
I’ll show everyone what I’ve shown in my first six fights. I’m going to
be passing out pillows to everybody to be thrown in the ring for my
opponent when he takes a nap.”
Joe “Sugar” Rea – “This is the first time I’ve had a real promoter
(Jimmy Burchfield) behind me and I’m looking forward to bigger and
better things this year.
