Press Release: Second Annual Ringside Augusta National Junior Boys Summer Boxing Classic

(JAN 24) Augusta, Georgia to host the Second Annual Ringside Augusta National Junior Boys Summer Boxing Classic, presented by COMCAST. Tom Moraetes, the Augusta Boxing Club along with the City of Augusta and the Augusta Recreation Department have combined efforts to host this tournament June 24 - 26, 2004. With support from the largest supplier in boxing equipment in the world, Ringside Inc. and the additional sponsorship from COMCAST, PCS Nitrogen, Sports Medicine Assoc. of Augusta, Pollock Company, Georgia Chiropractic and Wellness Center and the Partridge Inn, the Augusta Boxing Club looks to see hundreds of young boxers from all across the country participating in this tournament.

Tom Moraetes tells us “This tournament was a great success last year and because of numerous requests we decided to host this event again in 2004. We appreciate the opportunity for young athletes to show their skills and what better place than Augusta.” Tom Beck, Director of the Augusta Recreation and Parks Department has continually supported the sport of amateur boxing and sees this as “ an additional boost to the economic impact to the city through sport”. Bill Botham of COMCAST says “We are proud of our commitment and involvement with the amateur boxing program here in Augusta and gladly lend our name to the sponsorship of this tournament”.

John Brown, Owner and Chief Executive of Ringside Inc. says “ The City of Augusta show cases their city again by bringing another outstanding amateur boxing tournament to Augusta. Tom Moraetes and Tom Beck have again opened the door of the city to hundreds of athletes from across the U.S.” The Tournament will take place June 24 - 26 at the May Park Community Center 622, 4th street. The tournament is open to boys age’s 11 through 16. Competition will take place at 6:00 pm each day and tickets will be available at the door.
