Press Conference - Chavez/Singmanassak

(AUG 13) WBC Super Featherweight Champion Sirimongkol Singmanassak and #1
Contender Jesus Chavez met, for the first time, yesterday at a press
conference at The Hard Rock Cafe in Austin, TX. For many, this was the first
time to see Singmanassak in person, not to mention hear his name pronounced
correctly. (Except for the Thai contingent, Chavez seemed to be the only one
able to pronounce Singmanassak's name.) Both fighters expressed gratitude to
promoters and fans and respect for each other. Chavez thanked Singmanassak
for his willingness to travel to the challenger's hometown. Singmanassak
seemed confident and unaffected by the attention given to the hometown
favorite. A theme repeated throughout the press conference was the
competitiveness of the fight, which will match up two strong punchers.
