Bracero
Set to fight for first title - But his career was put on hold
after 5-0 when he was convicted and went to Prison for six years
October 17, 2011
(OCT 17) This Friday, Gabriel "Tito" Bracero (17-0, 3KO's) will
be fighting for this first boxing first title when he faces Daniel
Sostre (11-4-1, 4KO's) for the vacant NABF belt. Bracer-Sostre is set to
open up the DiBella Entertainment promoted ShoBox: The road to this
point for Bracero has been anything but easy. A stellar amateur, the New
York native turned pro in 2001 and ran his record to a perfect 5-0.
While Bracero was experiencing success inside the ring, trouble on the
outside was brewing all along and soon the young Puerto Rican prospect
was arrested and incarcerated to spend the next six years of his life
behind bars. After being released in January 2009, Bracero
wasted little time in getting his boxing career back in line behind
well-respected trainer and manager Tommy Gallagher. Since his return
Bracero has rung together 12-consecutive victories including his most
impressive to date back in April of this year when he won a dominate
eight-round decision over previously undefeated 2008 U.S. Olympic
alternate Danny O’Connor (14-0) also on ShoBox. If Bracero can capture
the NABF title against Sostre, he will be one step closer to fulfilling
a life-long dream. “I have been waiting for this for a long time,”
said Bracero. “I am truly blessed and so grateful for what my team, and
everyone at DiBella Entertainment has done for me.”

James Kirkland is Back in
action--- but things went bad for him in 2009!
March 23, 2011
[Huge photo of
James Kirkland]
(MAR 23) The boxing
career could not have been going better for undefeated James Kirkland,
25 years old at the time, and living in Texas, until in April of 2009!
Ju before Kirkland was set to fight Michael Walker in a 10 rounder on a
huge card that featured Ricky Hatton vs. Manny Pacquiao on an HBO PPV
card in Las Vegas---that he was arrested on a weapons charge.
Unfortunately for Kirkland----he apparently knew better as he was on
probation for a 2003 "armed" robbery charge. Kirkland got nailed
by the Po-Po, during a traffic stop in Austin, TX. He was charged
with "unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon". It was terrible
timing on Kirkland's part to have this happen, although it was his doing
to put himself in this prediction. Kirkland has made a successful
comeback and in a recent interview that took place on March 22, 2011, on
a media conference call he talks about his boxing career. [March

driving drunk and killed his wife. Maybe one would learn after such a
traumatic and lifelong tragic incident. Well, apparently "Wimpy", was

VIRGINIA BEACH (AUG 21, 2001) -- In his latest bout with the law,

The former boxing champion still faces a cocaine possession charge.
Whitaker, 37, was arrested on the drug charge Aug. 10 after sheriff's
deputies found cocaine on him during a search before he was taken to jail
for two traffic convictions, according to the sheriff's department. He
also was charged with violating probation stemming from a drunken driving
conviction. He was charged with DUI in June 1998 and later pleaded guilty.
In March 1999, he was fined $1,000, was given a 60-day suspended jail term
and was placed on probation for one year. After the Aug. 10 arrest on the
drug charge, Whitaker was charged with violating probation. He served two
days in jail for the traffic convictions -- speeding and driving without a

lesser sentences. The Olympic gold medalist tested positive for cocaine
twice during his career, in 1997 and 1998. Although he has repeatedly
denied using drugs, he checked into a drug-rehabilitation clinic in
