(JAN 3, 2012) In one of the most
emotional moments of the WBC Convention that was held on December 11
-16, 2011, at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, in Las Vegas, Nevada, took place
at the Award Dinner. Special awards was given by Oscar De La Hoya
and Sergio Martinez to the family of Genaro Hernandez, who died in June
of 2011. His wife, Liliana, and two children accepted the
awards. WBAN/HBN Sue Fox was at this Award Dinner, and sat with
Hernandez's family at one of the table, and got to talk with them while
having dinner with them. After the awards were given out to them,
Sue Fox took photos of the family at the dinner table. [see Thumbnail

Lillian, widow of Genaro, received in the company of her daughter and
son the WBC championship belt, which Genaro took with him, as he was
buried on June the 13th of this year.
The trophy “Genaro Chicanito Hernandez” was presented by Lillian to
Sergio Martinez in a very emotive ceremony, which brought many to tears.
