(JULY 12) Earlier this week,
welterweight rising star Alex Perez of Newark, NJ threw out the
ceremonial first pitch prior to the Newark Bears-Long Island Ducks game.
Perez supported his hometown team from field level seats directly behind
home plate, participated in a t-shirt toss and signed fight posters for
fans during a special meet and greet session.

Perez, 11-0 (7 KO's), battles rugged Brazilian Edvan Barros July 16 on
