OAKLAND - Allan Green relaxes in his
Hilton Oakland Airport suite as he gets mentally ready for his Super Six
World Boxing Classic showdown with WBA World Champion Andre Ward
televised Saturday, June 19-live on SHOWTIME, 10p ET/PT-from Oakland's
Oracle Arena.
The event is promoted by Goossen Tutor Promotions, TNT Boxing and
Dibella Entertainment and sponsored by Corona, Oakland Tribune and River
Rock Casino.
Allan Green stated, “Fight week for a boxer is 100% mental. I have done
the work. I have trained for a world title fight, but in the last days
before that first bell, it can't be about that in my mind. I know on
Saturday that I can walk out of the arena as the new WBA World Champion.
But I can't focus on that. I can only focus on beating Andre Ward.
I have been doing this for a long time. I've seen fighters psych
themselves right out. You have so much time to build up the moment in
your mind that you run the risk of peaking too soon. I need that mental
edge and intensity on Saturday. I don't need it on Thursday.
So, for me, its all about relaxing right now. We may go out a bit later
and do some shopping. Maybe buy some shoes.”
