(MAY 13) Irish head coach Billy
Walsh has hailed the performance of the Irish team after they chalked up
five wins from five at the Czech Republic Multi Nations in Istil Nad
Labem tonight. Walsh, who is working the Irish squads corner along with
Zuar Antia, watched Irish senior champions, Declan Geraghty, who
celebrated his 19th birthday last Sunday, Carl Frampton, Eric Donovan,
Willie McLaughlin and Con Sheehan record five wins on the trot to march
into the quarter finals.
The five are part of an eight man squad in the Czech Republic - John Joe
Nevin, Eamon O'Kane and Philip Sutcliffe will be in action tomorrow.
Walsh said: "I couldn't have asked for a better start. They lads have
adjusted to the scoring system very well out here and they are boxing
with confidence.
"Young Declan Geraghty was brilliant and his win will give him a lot of
confidence as the Russian he beat was in our training camp in
Vladivostok before the Beijing Olympics."
