April 8, 2009
(APR 8) Nine Senior Cadet champions have
been named in a ten strong squad for the President Cup which begins in
Baku, Azerbaijan on the 31st of this month. All ten competed at
last weekends National Senior Cadet Championships finals at the National
Stadium in Dublin where nine of the Baku panel emerged victorious.
Ireland have won silver and bronze medals at this tournament in the past
- but Irish coach Jim Moore wants to see the boys in green go one better
this time round. He said: "The Presidents Cup is one of the most
prestigious tournaments in the world for this age group and nothing will
come easy out there.
"We have won silver and bronze medals at this level before but no gold.
However, I would be quietly confident that we can put that to right this
time out, but it will be very tough."
The Irish squad depart for Baku on April 29th.
Meanwhile, the below squad are invited to report to the National Stadium
next Saturday for training.
