2nd Annual John Bray Free
Youth Boxing Clinic A Success!
February 9, 2009
(FEB 9) The John Bray Boxing Foundation
held its 2nd Annual John Bray Free Youth Boxing Clinic to assist the
community in preventing violence, promoting discipline as well as
academic success among school-age students by interfacing with local
community leaders and professional boxers.
Although Southern California experienced much needed rain this weekend,
it wasn’t enough to keep local kids along with their parents from
weathering the storm and making the trip to the LAPD Foothill Jeopardy
facility in San Fernando, California. Kids listened to inspiring stories
from professional boxers, trainers and community leaders. They then
later learned boxing basics and tested their new found skills on speed
bags, heavy bags and hand mitts.
The John Bray Boxing Foundation would like to thank the following
special guests for attending: Guitarist Chris Shiflett of the Foo
Fighters, World Champions Gabriel and Rafael Ruelas, WBC CABOFE
Middleweight Champion Miguel Espino, Female Bantamweight Sensation
Kaliesha “Wild Wild” West and trainer Juan West, Former Lightweight
Contender Carlos Navarro, Former Middleweight Contender Alex “the Bronx
Bomber” Ramos, Former Heavyweight Contender and Trainer Justin Fortune,
