January 24, 2009
(JAN 24) Last night at the Isleta Casino
and Resort, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Holly Holm, 145.5, won a
10-round unanimous decision over Myriam Lamare, 144.5, of France.
The two were fighting for the WIBA Welterweight world championship.
WBAN will be received the video of this fight, and will be
video-streaming the complete fight on the WBAN member's site in the next
few days or so.
Chris Cozzone of New Mexico Boxing wrote the following:
"Albuquerque's Holly Holm
(23-1-3, 6 KOs) outboxed--but did not outslug France's
Myriam Lamare (16-3, 9 KOs)
over ten rounds to retain her WIBA welterweight belt. Holm built up an
early lead, landing crisp rights on her foe, but Lamare came alive in
the late rounds, bombing Holm with big rights and looping lefts. The
scorecards read 96-94, 98-92 and 97-93 for Holm. NewMexicoBoxing had it
96-94."
