Victor Ortiz Named ESPN's
Prospect of the Year

(DEC 31) LOS ANGELES - It was announced
today that Golden Boy Promotions prospect Victor Ortiz was named
ESPN.com's Prospect of the Year. The rising star had a spectacular 2008,
racking up three wins by knockout in three fights and will set his
sights on a world title fight in 2009. Earlier this month, Ortiz was
also named Sports Illustrated's Prospect of the Year.
"I'd like to congratulate Victor on another great honor for his
impressive showing in 2008," said Oscar de la Hoya, President of Golden
Boy Promotions. "We are very excited to see what Victor has in store for
2009 and beyond."
Other Golden Boy Promotions fighters that were tabbed as "Future Stars"
by ESPN.com include (in alphabetical order) Danny Garcia, Daniel Jacobs,
James Kirkland and Carlos Velasquez.
