Professional Boxers Team Up for Charity Event
November 24, 2008
(NOV 24) In an effort to benefit the Life
Rolls on Foundation, an organization that supports and benefits young
people with spinal cord injuries, Convicted Artists is proud to present
the “Extreme Sports & Artists Charity Event.” The Life Rolls on
Foundation’s mission is to ensure that spinal cord injury patients live
an active as well as fruitful life.
This important charity event is being held at the No Limits Mixed
Martial Arts & Fitness Center in Irvine, California on December 13, 2008
and is the first of its kind where high profile athletes involved in
Boxing, MMA, Surfing, Skating, and Motocross will be attending.
In the early hours of the event, live music, food and cocktails will be
provided and later in the evening, in what has been billed as the
“Battle for Orange County”; top MMA schools in the nation will compete
in submission wrestling super fights.
The entire day will be filled with
skateboard competitions featuring well known top skateboarders. Also
scheduled to perform are Unique musicians, a very funny comedic act, a
fabulous silent auction featuring beautiful original art, clothing, surf
boards & skate boards, high-end cosmetic products and a number of first
class paraphernalia. This will provide great ideas for Holiday giving,
while it is benefiting young people trying to regroup their lives, after
catastrophic misfortunes.
UFC Hall of Fame and living fighting legend Ken Shamrock will also be on
hand for meet and greets. Former WBC Intercontinental heavyweight title
holder Ross Puritty, who was the first man to defeat Wladimir Klitschko,
will be on hand. Puritty knows about pain from boxing and playing
football first hand and stated that being a part of this charity event
is very important.
Fighters, such as WBC Mexican Heavyweight Champion David Rodriguez,
former Contender TV Series participant and current WBC CABOFE
Middleweight Champion Miguel Espino, trainer John Bray and boxing
participant Erick “Dynamite Hands” Vega of this upcoming season of the
“Contender TV Series” on Versus, KOTC champions, Manny Tapia and Victor
Valenzuela and seven-time kick boxing champion Cliff Thomas will be on
hand for the night.
Also in attendance for the evening is Scott Peters who plays center for
the rejuvenated Arizona Cardinals, former two-time Heavyweight Champion
and cast member of “Rocky V” Tommy Morrison, LRO model Briana Walker,
free-style motocross rider Ronnie Faisst, sports commentator and ring
announcer “Big Dog” Benny Henderson Jr. and many other high profile
athletes and celebrities will be attending to support and help raise
money for young people affected by spinal cord injuries.
The main event features five-time world Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion
Givanildo “The Arm Collector” Santana (11-1) of No Limits MMA, who will
be going head to head against the Lion’s Den elite team fighter and
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Denis Gomes. Santana, who totes the nick
name “The Arm Collector”, has defeated all but one of his fallen foes
via submission.
The co-main event features the eleven-time Champion and UFC veteran Joe
“Diesel” Riggs (28-10), who will be battling the undefeated KOTC veteran
Chad Davis (4-0), in what surely be a hell of throw down.
Riggs, who has competed in the KOTC, RITC, ECS, IFC, Strikeforce and the
UFC, has gone head to head against the likes of Kendall Grove, Diego
Sanchez, Nick Diaz and Matt Hughes, and the “Diesel” aims to steam roll
his competition come fight night. Although his opponent, Chad Davis (Millenia
Jiu-Jitsu), is not a house hold name, the tough as nails Davis, has his
eyes set on using Riggs as a stepping stone to the lime light.
Also in action, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu artist Mike Tomacelli (Joe Morera/Tomacelli
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) will be taking on Bruno Paulista (Ralph Gracie
Orange County) as well as the following fighters: Joseph Gutierres (Millenia),
