Tonight: 75th Annual New
Jersey State Finals of the Diamond Gloves Boxing Tournament

INDEN —A night of sparkling diamonds,
bubbling champagne and championship boxing will be tonight (Nov. 14th)
when the Linden Boxing Association, in conjunction with the Linden
Public Property and Community Services Department. presents the 75th
annual New Jersey State finals of the Diamond Gloves Boxing Tournament.
The full night of championship boxing entertainment, sponsored by the
Conoco Phillips Bayway Refinery, will be held at the Linden High School
gymnasium at 121 W. Saint Georges Ave.
The first fight is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased
at the door for $10. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
This year, the Linden Boxing Association will be honoring its founder,
Tony Orlando, for his commitment to the sport and the youth of Linden.
He has been a dedicated trustee of the association since its inception
and continues to provide leadership and guidance to the organization as
it is run today.
Since Orlando founded the organization, The Linden Boxing Association
has donated more than $300,000 to Linden Recreation-supported youth
programs and has sponsored three scholarships annually to graduating
Linden High School students.
Expected to attend this year's championship bouts are Bobby Czyz, former
world light heavyweight and cruiserweight champion; Emile Griffith,
former world welterweight, junior middleweight and middleweight
champion; Dwight Muhammad Qawi, former world light heavyweight and WBA
and IBF cruiserweight champion; and Lou Duva, the Hall of Fame boxing
trainer and manager.
