A Night Of Boxing At The
Silver Nugget Casino in North Las Vegas Set For Dec. 12th
November 14, 2008
Henderson, NV -- A Night of Boxing at the
Silver Nugget Casino Event Center, located at the top of 'The Strip' in
N Las Vegas, will be presented by the North Las Vegas Center Ring Boxing
Club on Friday, December 12th at 7pm. The 20 bout card will feature the
top area amateurs as they prepare for events such as the Silver Gloves,
Golden Gloves, and other such tournaments.
The North Las Vegas Center Ring Boxing Club is headed by Jose Banales,
who is the Director of the event.
"This is going to be a major amateur event at the Silver Nugget Casino,"
said Banales, who also is the regional head of the Junior Golden Gloves
Tournament. "We have invited all of the regional boxing clubs to send
their very best boxers and fans will get to see some rising stars."
The Silver Nugget, the one time home to many major amateur and
professional boxing events back in the 1980's and 90's, has brought back
boxing as a major part of their sports and entertainment effort. Their
14,000 sq fit Event Center has been air conditioned and completely
renovated. On September 30th, professional boxing returned to the Event
Center. Now, major amateur boxing will return.
"We are delighted to have amateur boxing back at the Silver Nugget
Casino," said Silver Nugget spokesman Joe Cain. " We hope to be the home
for the top amateur boxing not only for Las Vegas but also for the
entire Southwest region of the USA."
A Night of Boxing at the Silver Nugget will be popularly priced, with
ringside tickets at $20 and general admission at $10. All proceeds go to
the Amateur Boxing Clubs.
The television of the bouts will give boxing fans around the world their
first chance to see many of these up and coming fighters.
"For 20 years we televised AAU Boxing for CBS Sports Spectacular and
PBS," said TVS Television Network spokesman Tom Ficara. "Its fascinating
to go back and watch those shows and see young boxers who went on to
become Olympic and professional champions."
The fight will be telecast in both English and Spanish. Jaime Estrada
will handle the Spanish blow by blow and Ron Futrell will do the English
version.
Tickets for A Night of Boxing at the Silver Nugget are available at many
local boxing clubs in the Las Vegas area as well as at the Silver
Nugget. There will also be several fundraisers for the benefit of the
local boxing clubs, including a silent auction. Source/PR - The
