ALA Promotion Brings First Back-to-Back
World Title Fight
(JULY 11) More garbs and leathers are coming our way as ALA Promotions
raises the bar for boxing promotion in the Philippines and brings out the
first-ever back-to-back world-title fight in Philippine boxing within two
months.
ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer announced today that after the
“Laban Na Banal” (LNB) explosive on July 26 at the New Cebu Coliseum,
headbearing AJ “Bazooka” Banal and Rafael “El Torito” Concepcion for the
vacant World Boxing Association super flyweight title, another boxing blast
will rock the boxing community in Cebu City next month.
On Aug 30, reigning World Boxing (WBO) minimumweight champion Donnie “Ahas”
Nietes will face his first challenger in WBO No. 9 Eddy “Torito II” Castro
(12-3-1, KO9), a hungry Nicaraguan warrior in his first break for a world
crown. After two nipped defense flicks, this comes as a welcome prospect for
Nietes to prove his mettle and defend his ascendency as a premier fighter of
the minimumweight world.
The historic date will also witness the come back of reigning WBO
Inter-Continental super bantamweight king Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista in the
co-main event to face his first title contender Eden “Anestescista” Marquez
(16-3-3, KO12) of Sonora, Mexico.
ALA Promotions has already broght a string of world-class championship
promotions to the shores of Philippine boxing. Such premier events include
Invasion on April 6 (come back fight of Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista against
Genaro Camargo for the WBO Inter-Continental super bantamweight title), Now
or Never on Feb 2 (between Z “The Dream” Gorres and Vic “The Bull”
Darchinyan for the IBF super flyweight title), and Moment of Truth on Feb 24
last year (headlining Z “The Dream” Gorres and Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel
for the WBO super flyweight crown)
The August firepower will hit Cebu City Waterfront Hotel and Casino in
association with ABS-CBN Sports.
