Frenchman Brahim Asloum won the a world title in his third attempt, moving down to light fly, where he outscored Argentinean Juan Carlos Reveco this past weekend in Le Cannet. Asloum thus became the first Frenchman to both win an Olympic Gold and a World title in the pros. French President Nicolas Sarkozy have sent his congratulations to Asloum. It was an important win for French boxing after several (Mormeck, M´Baye, Asloum twice etc) setbacks. Reveco was according to l´Equipe forced to shed an amazing eleven kilos (about 24 lbs) in the six weeks leading up to the fight.

Comebacking Alejandro Lakatus is now down to lightheavy again and goes for the vacant Spanish title December 14 against Juan Carlos Muntaner December 14 in Madrid.

Italian Boxe Loreni had to cancel its planned November 30 promotion but stage a show December 12 in Brescia with Fabio Tuiach vs Enis Boussandel for the IBF Mediterranean cruiserweight title on top. Welter Leonardu Bundu fights Romanian spoiler Gheorge Danut in the chief support.

French EuroProm don´t get many EuroSport dates anymore but when they do it's always solid shows. December 18 in Frangy they headline with jr middles Sebastian Madani squaring off against Spaniard Javi Vega in a WBC Mediterranean bout and capable veteran Alban Mothie fighting Damien Bertu for the vacant French 154 lb title.

The show in Izegem, Belgium, will now not be headlined by Ismail Abdoul, who reportedly already is doing time and will be off the scene for a few years now. Instead Hungarian jr middle Attila Kovacs will face Kenyan Stanley Katibi in a scheduled eight-rounder.

Hungarian cruiser Gyorgi Hidvegi defends the WBF title against French champ Christophe Dettinger December 15 in Dessau. Russian heavy giant Evgeny Orlov appears on the undercard and face Mihaly Nemeth.

Thomas Ulrich´s defence of the EBU lightheavy title against Ukrainian Yuri Barashian could now go ahead February 23 - and may just be the chief support to Dimitrenko vs Krasniqi, if that fight comes off.

OPI 2000 plans to do Colin Lynes vs Gianluca Branco for the EBU jr welter crown January 25 in Italy with exact site to be announced. In a supporting bout lightheavy Antonio Brancalion defends the lightheavy title against Frenchman Karim Bennama.
