David Diaz to be honored by
Chicago Fire this Sunday

WBC Lightweight World Champion David Diaz
will be honored this Sunday afternoon, September 23rd with the 2007
Chicago Fire Hispanic Hero Award at Toyota Park.
A special ceremony honoring Diaz’s win over three division world
champion Erik Morales will take place at half-time of the Chicago Fire
MLS match against D.C. United. Diaz successfully defended his world
title with an outstanding win over Morales on August 4th at the Allstate
Arena.
Said Diaz, “I’m thrilled to be chosen by the Chicago Fire for this
award. The organization has been very supportive of me throughout my
career and I look forward to watching my friends on the team this
Sunday.”
About his current status, Diaz said, “Just staying in shape and enjoying
the summer with my family and the other Chicago sport teams. The Cubs
are winning the championship rounds and are trying to make the playoffs
and the Bears have a huge game on Sunday night. But don’t worry, I’ll be
focused and ready when its time to get back in the ring to defend my
title.”
