The
Road Warrior comes home for summer showdown against Moore
HOLLYWOOD, FL, July 15 – Former world light heavyweight champion Glen
Johnson is used to traveling into his opponents’ backyards to display
the skills that have earned him a reputation as one of the top 175-pound
fighters of this era. But on Friday, July 27th, at the Sheraton Miami
Mart Hotel’s 4,500 seat arena, ‘The Road Warrior’ will get a rare home
game when he puts his number one IBF ranking on the line against
dangerous knockout artist Fred Moore in the main event of the inaugural
‘Rumble in Paradise’ series.
"Rumble In Paradise" is promoted and produced by Richard Dobral’s Bad
Dog Productions. July 27th’s inaugural card, “Ring of Fire” will be
co-promoted with Seminole Warriors Boxing. Future shows, featuring local
talent as well as nationally-known boxers, will be held on August 24,
September 21, and November 21.
Tickets, priced at $100, $50 and $20, with VIP tables of eight also
available, may be purchased by visiting Ticketmaster.com, or by calling
Bad Dog Productions at (305) 265-1437. The Sheraton Miami Mart Hotel
located at N.W. 72nd Avenue and SR 836 in Miami, Florida.
Glen Johnson (45-11-2, 30 KOs) is a throwback fighter in the best sense
of the word, a hard-nosed warrior who would have been among the elite in
any era of boxing history. An aggressive battler who owns wins over Roy
Jones Jr. and Antonio Tarver, among others, this former world light
heavyweight champion and 2004 Fighter of The Year is poised to make
another run at the world title, a point emphasized by his 11th round TKO
of former world titlist Montell Griffin in May, a win that earned him
the IBF’s number one world ranking and guaranteed him a shot at champion
Clinton Woods.
Six foot three southpaw ‘Fabulous’ Fred Moore (30-6, 27 KOs) has gone
through a series of ups and downs over the course of a career that began
in 1994, but after a two-year break from the ring, the hard-hitting
Philadelphia native is eager to get back in the game and fulfill his
promise by taking out one of the division’s best in Glen Johnson.
Also scheduled to see action on the high-impact July 27th card are 12-1
Damian ‘Devo’ Frias, Alex Brenes, and heavyweights Colin Fern and Henry
Fuentes. |
