Toney suspended for Steroid use
(JUN 14) James Toney, has tested positive for steroids and it is
reported that he may be facing a one-year suspension from boxing. The
California State Athletic Commission said that Toney in his fight
against Danny Batchelder that took place on May 24, 2007, in San Jose,
had tested positive for two different types [stanazolol and oxandolone]
of steroids. The results of the fight with Batchelder will remain the
same with Toney winning by a split decision. Not sure why that fight
would not be made a no contest.
This was not the FIRST time that Toney has tested positive for steroids,
when two years ago, after he fought John Ruiz, he tested positive for
nandrolone. In that fight it was ruled a no contest. |
