BAILEY
FACES NGOUDJO IN IBF ELIMINATION BOUT FRIDAY
HOLLYWOOD, FL, June 6 – Two-time world junior welterweight champion
Randall Bailey has put in the long hours in the gym and has done his job
in spectacular fashion when the bell rings. Now, after a two year, seven
fight winning streak that includes five knockout victories in a row,
Bailey is one win away from a shot at regaining his title and once again
ruling the 140-pound division.
But to get that shot, Miami, Florida’s Bailey must get through tough
Canadian contender Herman “The Black Panther” Ngoudjo (15-1, 9 KOs)
Friday night in a 12 round IBF elimination bout in Ngoudjo’s hometown
venue, Uniprix Stadium in Montreal.
“It’s been a hard road back, but I feel great and I’m ready to take out
Ngoudjo and get my title shot,” said Bailey, a former WBO and WBA
champion who has put together a 35-5 (32 KOs) record over his 11-year
career. “Ngoudjo’s tough and he’s fighting in his backyard, but he’s
never faced a puncher like me and once we’re in the ring, it’s just me
and him, so I’m gonna show him who’s boss.”
Bailey-Ngoudjo will be televised live in the United States on ESPN2’s
Friday Night Fights beginning at 8pm ET / 5pm PT. |
