White Wolf Hunting Ibragimov!
(JUN 4) Offended by Ibragimov’s
comments about him, former WBO King Sergei Liakhovich wants to
be the first to face the new champion.
Former WBO
Heavyweight Champion Sergei Liakhovich says he’s surprised and
offended by the pre-fight comments of new champion Sultan
Ibragimov and would like to be the first to face him.
“It was a good
win for you Saturday night,” said Liakhovich of Ibragimov’s
unanimous decision over Shannon Briggs, “however, I take offense
to your comments that I was ‘afraid’ of Briggs when I fought
him. Just pick a place and a date if you want to fight. Let’s
see how tough you really are.”
Liakhovich, who
was ahead on the scorecards before losing his title to Briggs
via last-second knockout last November 4, says he’d be willing
to travel to Ibragimov’s backyard of Russia, if need be. “Let’s
make it happen and you’ll see how scared I am,” insisted the
“White Wolf” who says he has fully recovered from injury and is
eager to get his title back.
“Your people
say you’re the toughest heavyweight in the world today and
you’ll fight anybody and that nobody wants to fight you. We’ll
make it simple: I’ll fight you anywhere, any time.”
Liakhovich says
he is hoping there will be no games. “This is a great match up
between the former champion and the new one. You fought very
cautiously to win your title, now let’s you and me give the fans
a thrill and get it on!”
