RODRIGUEZ AND UNDEFEATED ELOY PEREZ TO HEADLINE
June 1, 2007
(JUN 1) After 15 years of SHAKEDOWN IN QUAKETOWN shows in Santa Cruz, and RIOT AT THE HYATT events in Monterey, Jerry Hoffman's 12 Sports Productions moves his wildly successful pro boxing series to San Jose for the first time. THE RIOT will be promoted at the classic San Jose Civic Auditorium, the ideal venue for the anticipated 2500 boxing fans. The historic Civic was the hub for pro boxing in the Bay Area during the glory years, and July 14th will rekindle that tradition.

"There are 2 main reasons for making the move" say's promoter/matchmaker Hoffman. "The date opened when Fight Night at the Tank canceled it's planned summer show for improvements at the HP Pavilion, and events in Monterey targeted at tourists in July have impacted our ability to get needed hotel rooms and overall cooperation. We do plan on returning to Monterey this fall when our event can receive the attention it deserves."

Hoffman has promoted 6 World Champions over his 15 years in the Monterey Bay Area. The latest to win a championship is Watsonville's Carina Moreno who captured the WBC Strawweight Title in May. Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero is another local fighter who started his career in Monterey. The Gilroy featherweight went to Denmark this spring and returned home with the IBF World Championship. Other recognized World Champions promoted by Hoffman over the years include "Sugar" Shane Mosley, Stevie Johnston, James Page, and San Leandro's Gina "Boom Boom" Guidi.

There are at least 2 local boxers who have championship ability on the July 14th, 6 bout card at the San Jose Civic. Jesus "Chuy" Rodriguez (14-2) who won a dominating 10 round Main Event at the March Fight Night at the Tank show, and Eloy Perez (8-0-1) who shut out a much more experienced fighter on the Fight Night May 24th, show will be headliners. Both young stars are part of Team Garcia Boxing out of Salinas.

Other's scheduled for the San Jose Civic Card include Superheavyweight Keith Spencer 1-0) of Ventura who is a chiseled 6'6" 260 lb. Navy man, San Jose's pro debuting Valerie Evans and Maurice Slade, and Salinas' Constancio Alvarado (1-0). Opponents will be named shortly, as will a bonus bout for the July 14th card.

Tickets, VIP opportunities and sponsorships can ONLY be obtained by calling the promoter directly at (831) 688-1604. There is no service fee or tax for orders over the phone, and Hoffman who is the promoter, matchmaker, and ring announcer is also the box office to answer any and all questions about THE RIOT, coming to the historic San Jose Civic Auditorium Saturday, July 14, 2007.
