UNDEFEATED HEAVYWEIGHT PROSPECT WILMER VASQUEZ TO FIGHT MIKE “THE HAMMER” JONES

New York, March 21, 2007—Wilmer Vasquez, 1-0 (1 KO), the hard-punching heavyweight who represented his native Venezuela at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, will fight Mike “The Hammer” Jones, 3-7 (1 KO), of Detroit, in a four rounder at the Huntington Town House in Huntington Station, Long Island, on Friday, March 23, 2007.

The show, which is being promoted by Bob Duffy’s Ring Promotions and Frankie G. Productions, is being headlined by two natives of Poland. Undefeated junior middleweight Pawel Wolak, 13-0 (8 KOS), of Brooklyn, will take on the durable Keith Sims, 25-13-1 (14 KOS), of Kansas City. In the co-feature, heavyweight Art “The Polish Warrior” Binkowski will fight an opponent to be determined. Binkowski played boxer Corn Griffin in the film “Cinderella Man” and also appears in the upcoming movie “Resurrecting the Champ” with Samuel L. Jackson and Josh Hartnett.

Vasquez is trained by the legendary Roberto Duran, who will be in attendance. Having scored more than 50 knockouts in 50 amateur fights, he is being talked about as a surefire professional prospect.

“Whenever you get a heavyweight with explosive power, a tremendous buzz is created,” said Frankie G. “This guy has a lot of people talking, and the general consensus is that he has a helluva future ahead of him. We are thrilled to be helping him develop during this formative stage of his career.”

The Huntington Town House is located at 124 East Jericho Turnpike (1/5 of a mile east of Route 110). General admission is $40. VIP tables that can accommodate 10 people and include a two-hour cocktail party and a seven-course dinner are still available for $1,600.

Tickets can be obtained by contacting Bob Duffy at 516-313-2304; the Huntington Town House at 631-427-8485; or Frankie G’s Academy of Boxing in Huntington Station, phone 631-673-3520.
