MGM
MIRAGE TO HOST CLOSED CIRCUIT VIEWING FOR DE LA HOYA VS. MAYWEATHER
(FEB 17) LAS VEGAS – Select MGM MIRAGE properties will host a total of
more than 20,000 closed circuit viewing seats in conjunction with the
upcoming super fight between the ‘Golden Boy’ Oscar De La Hoya and
‘Pretty Boy’ Floyd Mayweather. The championship card scheduled for
Saturday, May 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena will be distributed by
HBO-Pay-Per-View and the live telecast will begin at 6 p.m. PST.
MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, Treasure Island, Luxor, Monte Carlo
and Circus Circus will televise the most highly-anticipated boxing event
in history and will open their doors for guests at 5 p.m. Tickets for
the closed circuit viewing telecast are priced at $50, not including
handling fees, and go on sale Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m.
Tickets can be purchased at each individual property’s box office
outlets or by phone with a major credit card at 866-799-7711. Tickets
also will be available by visiting www.ticketmaster.com or by calling
702-474-4000 (for only MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay venues). Ticket sales
are limited to eight (8) per person and all seats are general admission.
The fight features two former United States Olympians with a combined 14
world championship belts, unquestioned talent and charisma not seen
since the days of Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard. This will be more
than a fight; this will be a spectacle that transcends a mere boxing
event. Tickets for the fight sold out in three hours establishing a live
gate record of $19 million. This broke the previous record of
$16,860,300 for the November 13, 1999 Lennox Lewis vs. Evander Holyfield
II championship event at the Thomas and Mack Center. |
