ALVARADO VS. MOLINA ADDED TO HUGE CHICAGO SHOW THIS FRIDAY NIGHT
(FEB 11) Undefeated welterweight prospect
Mike Alvarado will face veteran Carlos Molina this Friday night,
February 16th, at FEBRUARY FURY at Cicero Stadium in an eight round
bout, it was announced today by Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count
Productions.
The FEBRUARY FURY event, featuring eight bouts of world class
professional boxing, is presented by 8 Count Productions, HOME OF THE
BEST IN CHICAGO BOXING and Bob Arum’s Top Rank Incorporated, along with
TCF Bank and TECATE Beer.
Alvarado, a native of Denver, Colorado, brings a record of 15-0 with ten
knockouts to the ring against Molina. The 26 year old, making his
Chicago debut, is coming off an eight round decision over Edvan Dos
Santos Barros on August 18, 2006 in Houston, Texas. He is managed by
Shelly Finkel who also handles Fernando Vargas, Wladimir Klitschko,
Manny Pacquiao and Rocky Juarez amongst many others.
The 23 year old Molina, 8-3-1 (4KO’s) from Michoacan, Mexico now living
in Appleton, Wisconsin is making his fourth appearance in the 8 Count
Productions ring. He has twice battled Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. including
a nationally televised draw on December 15, 2005, a bout many media
members and fans had him winning.
Said Pesoli about the matchup, “Molina is a real solid, popular guy who
has done very well on our shows. I’ve seen Alvarado fight a few times
and there’s no question he’s a solid skilled prospect but Molina should
be a very good test for him. His two fights with Chavez Jr. were
terrific fights. Our fans should be in for a real battle between these
two.”
