Tapia returns to give fans going-away fight!
January 25, 2007

(JAN 25) Five time former World Champion Johnny (Mi Vida Loca) Tapia 55-5-2 (28 KO’s) will be returning to the ring on February 23rd at Isleta Casino and Resort. Tapia wanted to make a final fight but didn’t want it to be an easy one. He wanted to give his fans one last fight before he retires. “This is the last time I will get to put on a show for my fans”, stated Tapia. Tapia will be fighting Ilido Julio 33-10-1 (29 KO’s) from Columbia which is a tough fight.

But Tapia and Isleta would not have it any other way. Isleta Casino demands competitive fights in order to keep the patrons happy. No doubt Tapia is a lock for the Boxing Hall of Fame. But when he steps in the ring for the last time on February 23, 2007 he will end what has been a dream career with a Movie Line story. Tapia who already has a book out is waiting for his movie script to finish being written.

There are only a few fighters that have accomplished what Tapia has achieved and there will be very few in the future to achieve this Hall of Fame career. Tapia has given his blood and guts to his fans for over 15 years and will have celebrated his 40th birthday 10 days earlier from the night of the fight.

This will be Fresquez Productions Inc. ninth fight with the former World Champion.
We enjoy putting on a show with Tapia because he is one of the greatest fighters that has ever lived. And he ALWAYS gives his all in the ring and gives the fans every last drop of energy he has, win or lose. Johnny, who is one of the most generous guys around, will virtually give you the shirt off his back to help you.

We look forward to putting on a memorable show on February 23. The co-main event will feature Albuquerque’s David “Finito” Martinez matched against-tougher than nails- Brian Garcia from Santa Fe. “Tony the Tiger” Valdez from Espanola steps it up to take on veteran Evaristo Primero from Juarez, Mexico. Also on the card making his pro debut is Albuquerque’s Antonio Ortiz taking on Alberto Jimenez from El Paso, Texas.

Tickets can be purchased at Isleta Box Office, tickets.com or Fresquez Productions at (505) 884-7484. For more information on the fight please visit www.fresquezprodutions.com.
