Willie Pep dies at age 84

(NOV 25) Featherweight Willie Pep, who
was considered to be one of the best pound for pound boxers, died on
Thursday at West Hill Convalescent Home, in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.
Willie suffered from Alzheimer’s according to news sources.
The Boston Globe reported that Pep had won 62 fights in New England as
an amateur, and winning his first 63 professional fights, setting a
record for the best start to a career. After losing a match against
Sammy Angoot, he “reeled” off 73 consecutive fights without losing. Pep
won a staggering 230 pro fights, losing only 11, and one draw. Source:
