(SEPT 4) Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero wins a
World Title THE RIOT announces November 18th for next Collision at the
Conference Center in Monterey Jesus "Chuy" Rodriguez to fight September
14th at The Tank in San Jose.
Gilroy's Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero dominated Eric "Mighty Mouse" Aiken
on Showtime at Staples Center in LA Saturday night to capture the IBF
Featherweight World Championship. The 19-1 southpaw earned his new World
Title belt by punishing Aiken who surrendered in his corner following
round 8. Guerrero began his pro career at age 18 at THE RIOT in
Monterey, and becomes the 5th World Champion boxer promoted by 12 Sports
Productions. Robert joins "Sugar" Shane Mosley, Stevie Johnston, James
Page, and Gina Guidi who displayed their talents early in their
respective careers in Monterey and Santa Cruz at "Shakedown in Quaketown"
shows. Promoter /Matchmaker Jerry Hoffman has produced at least 2 shows
per year for the past 15, primarily in the Monterey Bay area.
The next RIOT presentation is set for Saturday, November 18th, 2006. 6
Bouts with over 30 scheduled rounds is on the slate, including Salinas'
Jesus "Chuy" Rodriguez (10-2) vs. Ulises Pena (14-6 San Fernando) and
undefeated bantamweight female sensation Kaleisha West (4-0 Moreno
Valley) vs. TBA. Details on the upcoming event will be mailed by Sept.
15th.
Coming up on Thursday, September 14th at the HP Pavilion in San Jose,
RIOT regular "Chuy" Rodriguez has a tune up fight against an opponent
yet to be named by promoter Goossen-Tutor.
