Upcoming event in Chicago
(JULY 20) Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions, HOME OF THE
BEST IN CHICAGO BOXING, has announced final details for the ARAGON
SHOWDOWN this Friday night, July 21st headlined by the return of
undefeated light heavyweight prospect Tavoris Cloud of Tallahassee,
Florida.
The ARAGON SHOWDOWN is another monthly installment of the finest in
Chicago boxing presented by 8 Count Productions, Miller Lite and TCF
bank.
The fully air conditioned Aragon Ballroom is located at 1106 W. Lawrence
Avenue on the north side of Chicago. Doors for this event will open at
7pm; with the first bell scheduled for 8pm. Tickets starting at $25 are
available in advance by calling 312-226-5800.
Said Pesoli, “It’s another great event we’ve put together for
Chicagoland fight fans which gives them a chance to see some terrific
prospects and a couple of very good looking newcomers. The air
conditioning will be on full blast on Friday night but as usual there
will be a lot of heat in the ring. Our matchmaker Jerry Alfano has done
another outstanding job with these evenly matched bouts.”
“This is one of our rare events that isn’t televised so we’re expected a
very large crowd on Friday night at the Aragon” stated Pesoli.
The former national amateur standout Cloud, 10-0, (9KO’s) will face
Arkansas toughman Mitch Hicks, 5-4 (5KO’s) in an eight round light
heavyweight battle. Cloud’s last appearance in Chicago was a crushing
second round knockout of Anthony Dennis on the 8 Count Productions’
MADNESS IN MARCH event at the Aragon Ballroom.
Said Pesoli, “We’re very proud to bring Cloud back, he’s a terrific
prospect who generates excitement with each fight. Hicks is a very
strong, tough kid from Arkansas
and this should be a real war.”
The co-main event features the return of one of Chicago’s most popular
fighters, Francisco Rodriguez, 7-1 (5KO’s) who will be featured in a
scheduled eight round bout.
In a special attraction, Chicagoland fan favorite super middleweight
Donovan “DA BOMB” George, 8-0-1 (6KO’s) will battle Joe Varela, 10-6-1
(5KO’s) of Phoenix, Arizona.
The 21 year old prospect George, 8-0-1 (6KO’s), returned to Chicagoland
with a stunning second round knockout of Robert Smallwood on the 8 Count
Productions’ DESTINY card on June 16th at Cicero Stadium. His previous
two fights were wins over Julio Cesar Lanzas and Allen Medina at the
Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Varela, 10-6-1 (5KO’s) fighting out of Phoenix, Arizona, is coming off a
decision win over Anthony Bartinelli at the Coyote Arena in Glendale,
Arizona.
In a four round bout featuring undefeated super lightweights, Jeff “The
Big Frog” Curran, 1-1 (1KO) of Crystal Lake, Illinois, faces Raul
Garcia, 3-0 (1KO) of St. Paul, Minnesota.

lightweight Ashour Eshoo will battle Jermaine Sanders, 1-0 (1KO) of Fort
Wayne, IN in a scheduled four round bout.
