LINTON-FRAZIER HEADLINE BATTLE AT THE BOAT XLVI
(MAY 11) TACOMA, WA - In what could be the
biggest fight in their careers, Tacoma’s own, Emmett Linton (33-4-2,
15KOs) will face Robert Frazier (31-7-4, 15KOs) in the ten round main
event at the Northwest most popular pro-boxing series “The Battle at the
Boat”. This is the 46th fight since the series started in November 2001.
“This fight is a pick’em fight” said promoter Brian Halquist. “The
winner of this fight will undoubtedly get a shot at something big. Both
guys have great records and have fought world class fights and many TV
fights” Halquist continued. “I see this fight as even as can be”.
Linton’s trainer, former world champion Johnny Bumphus, also a Tacoma
native, has been in town setting up the Linton training camp for this
fight. “This is a fight that both fighter’s need to win”, Bumphus said.
“Emmett is ready and has trained good for this fight”.
The semi-main event will feature local favorite Roger Cantrell (6-0-0,
4KOs) against West Virginia’s James North (8-10-2, 3KOs). “Roger is
stepping up and fighting a veteran who has fought very tough in his
career. North has much more pro-ring experience than Roger, but at this
point in Cantrell’s career he needs to fight a good journeyman. We’ll
stop him up against better competition every fight now. We’d really like
to fight Andre Ward at 160 pounds in the very near future” Halquist
said. Ward is 8-0 as a pro and won a gold medal in the 2000 Olympics.
“We are very confident in Roger and he will continue to fight tougher
opponents each fight”, Halquist said.
