Venegas vs. Steve Vincent in Solo Boxeo/Latin Fury

Chicago based Mexican warrior Gilbert Venegas, (8-1-1, 5 KO's) faces off
against Steve Vincent, (8-3, 7 KO's) in the scheduled eight round
welterweight co-main event. Said Pesoli about the co-main, "We just
signed Gilbert and we're thrilled to have him on our show. Vincent's a
very tough, heavy handed kid from St. Louis which should provide a solid
test for Gilbert.
The twenty eight year old Venegas, coming off a four year layoff battled
to a six round draw against undefeated Main Events promoted prospect
Henry Crawford on the Fernando Vargas "Return to Battle" under card at
the Allstate Arena on August 20th. Vincent is riding a three bout
winning streak, most recently stopping John Slicker on September 8th in
St. Louis.
Headlining the huge card Latin Fury card is the Chicagoland debut of
two-time world champion Jose Luis Lopez, (47-4-2, 37 KO's) of Durango,
Mexico.
"Maestrito" won the welterweight world championship over Mexican legend
Yory Boy Campas on October 6, 1996 by brutally knocking out Campas in
the 5th round.
One year later on October 17, 1997, Lopez fought former world champion
Ike "The Bazooka" Quartey even for twelve rounds earning a 12 round
draw.
The 32 year old Lopez returned to the ring last fall after a four year
absence and is riding a three fight winning streak, most recently
stopping Alberto Mercedes
in the seventh round in Las Vegas, Nevada on the Diego Corrales/Jose
Luis Castillo under card on May 7th of this year.
Just added to the huge card is 8 Count Productions' recent signee
lightweight Mike Gonzalez, (2-0, 2 KO's) who will be featured in a four
round bout against
Antoine Hicks of Dallas, TX. Gonzalez cemented his status as a prospect
by stopping Tommy Bach this past July at the Aragon Ballroom.
The action packed under card also features the return of the two most
popular Chicago fighters, welterweight KO artist Luciano "El Mohicano"
Perez, (12-2-1, 11 KO's) and middleweight "MACHO" Miguel Hernandez,
(16-3, 9 KO's) in separate bouts.
A special cruiserweight six round attraction will feature Chicago's Mike
Nevitt, (9-0, 4 KO's). Nevitt was last seen taking a hard fought
decision from Carl Gathright this past June at the Aragon Ballroom.
