Border
City Vietnam Veterans Show a Success
(MAY 30) Last night at the Border City Boxing Club held a local fight
card the The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 143 on Sunday afternoon with
nine of its boxers competing.
Border City's Andre Gorges scored a unanimous decision over Ohio's Ira
Mcdowell in the four-round Main event, Lukas Welniak defeated
Chris Paulins of Sudbury, Mo, Mustapha won over Sudbury's Lee
Thibeault, Alison Hunter earned a unanimous decision victory over Karen
Bell of the Sault Ste. Marie, and John Bialkowski won by unanimous
decision over River Rouge's Marco Guzman.
Border City's Eyobe Amberber lost to Toledo's Tony
Helton, and Geoff Lalovich dropped a split decision in
his debut to Taplin Damari of Pontiac Michigan. Also,
Josh Cameron made his return to the ring after a year
lay off following a serious car accident to face
teammate Ace Hamka in an exhibition bout.
Border City's Katie Dunn competed in Chatham on Sunday afternoon against
Kansas City's Caroline Barry. Dunn won a unanimous decision in her final
tune up bout
before representing Canada in Italy in June.
