(MAY 24) Vlad Warton, the promoter of Kostya Tszyu, has commissioned
Boxing Hall of Fame Artist Richard T. Slone to paint the upcoming super
fight between Kostya Tszyu and Ricky Hatton.
Warton paid an undisclosed amount for Slone’s original art, which will
be hung on the wall of his Las Vegas home. “I have seen Richard’s work
before and was very impressed” said Warton “ Kostya is a hard man to
paint and he captured both the fighters perfectly….He has brought them
to life”
A limited edition of only 50 canvas giclee prints are available. Prints
are individually numbered and signed by the artist. For more information
and to reserve a print email joel@jbcboxing.com
Slone’s Tszyu-Hatton painting is 48inches by 36inches, rendered with
acrylics on canvas. “It’s gonna be a great fight” said Slone, “I wanted
to incorporate the action, blood, intensity and power in the painting. I
accomplished what I wanted. Vlad wanted the painting even before it was
published, that’s an honor for me. Vlad knows Kostya better than anyone
and for him to say I captured Kostya perfectly is quite a compliment”.
Slone’s original paintings are owned by many celebrities and high-end
art dealers. His art has graced the covers of many magazines including
the Ring and KO magazines. He is the official artist of the
International Boxing Hall of Fame. Slone has painted originals for,
Donald Trump, Hugh Hefner, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and is currently
working on a huge oil portrait for rapper Eminem.
Many people know Slone in the boxing industry as the Vice President of
Detroit’s Kronk Boxing Gym. Slone was also a longtime member of Lennox
Lewis’ training team in addition to being a former amateur boxer, guided
