"Expressway Jam" June 3 in Dorchester
BOSTON (May 18, 2005) - 2000 Ecuadorian Olympian Luis Hernandez (12-2, 6
KOs) headlines "Expressway Jam," presented by NER Promotions, Friday
night, June 3 at Freeport Hall (IBEW) in Dorchester (MA).
Hernandez is matched against Bahamian welterweight Jerome Ellis (3-2-1,
3 KOs) in the eight-round main event.
"Hernandez is one of the South American fighters NER recently signed,"
NER Promotions president Rick Brutti said. "He won on our first show in
Lowell, knocking his opponent out with one big punch, and we want to
showcase his talents. We also have some good local prospects on this
card. 'Expressway Jam' is the second in a series of fights we're
promoting this year. Soon we will announce our summer fight schedule."
In the six-round co-feature, super middleweight Rodney Toney (26-4-4, 16
KOs), now fighting out of Boston, faces veteran Shannon Miller. Toney,
cousin of multiple world champion James Toney, is the former California
State light heavyweight champion. He has been idle 2 1/2 years, but does
hold a win against Charles Brewer, and fought William Joppy to a draw.
The undercard is supported by local prospects such as undefeated Whitman
welterweight "Nasty" Nick Morganelli (4-0, 3 KOs), 2004 New England
Rookie of the Year; cruiserweight Tyrone Smith (3-0-1, 1 KO), Boston
police officer; Wilmington (MA) via Guatemala featherweight Castulo "El
Pobeioso" Gonzalez, 2003 Pan-Am Games silver medallist; Irish
