| Rahman Continues
Comeback at WBA KO Drugs Festival! September 30, 2010 |
![]() |
Former undisputed and two-time World Heavyweight Champion Hasim "The
Rock" Rahman (48-7-2, 39 KOs) continues his comeback Saturday night at the
Arena Roberto Duran in Panama City, Panama, at the WBA KO Drugs Festival.
Rahman has scored three impressive knockouts since his December 2008
unsuccessful challenge for Wladimir Klitschko's IBF and WBO Heavyweight
Championships. He will be looking to make opponent Marcus McGee the fourth.
"The Rock is rounding into world championship form by keeping busy like
this," said Rahman's promoter, Greg Cohen of The Empire Sports and
Entertainment. "He's looked unstoppable in his last three fights, but to
keep himself thought of as a viable world-title challenger he's got to
continue to look good in every fight."
Rahman's battle against McGee will serve as one of the main supporting bouts
on a mammoth 12-fight event headlined by Luis "El Nica" Concepcion vs.
Denkaosan Kaovichit for the WBA flyweight interim world title and Guillermo
"El Felino" Jones vs. Valery Brudov for the WBA regular cruiserweight world
title. "When I started The Empire seven months ago, one of my first goals
was to get heavyweight title shots for my two marquee fighters, Shannon
Briggs and Hasim Rahman, explained Cohen. "Shannon has his opportunity
coming up against Vitali Klitschko. And now, with Hasim fighting on such a
prestigious event in front of so many important boxing luminaries, if he
scores another impressive win, I can see him moving a big step closer to his
title shot as well."

(SEPT 24) I'm 43 years old and haven't had an official fight in more than nine years and, yet, I still have never actually stated anywhere that I am retired. I've never brought myself to utter the words. My first organized boxing match came in the spring of 1980 and my last was an exhibition in Montreal back in October of 2002. I've been training professional boxers since the beginning of 2001. That's what I do. But I still consider myself more of a boxer than a trainer. As a matter of fact, I often refer to myself not as a trainer of boxers but as a boxer

(SEPT 24) Contrary to what is said, undefeated welterweight phenom, and self described pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr loves being in the spotlight. The whole “love me daddy” routine is so inexplicably obvious, as he wrestles, dances with the stars, and makes a total ass of himself on the Emmy winning HBO sports documentary show 24/7. And when nobody wants to film him, his own racist hate filled internet video blogs. He seems to despise the very people and organizations that he desperately needs...Full Story

Punishment II Postponed - Nwe Date: Friday - October 22nd September 13, 2010 |
![]() |
(SEPT 13) Star Boxing and The Empire's "Capitale Punishment II" card, originally scheduled for this Thursday (9/16) at the Capitale NY, has been postponed until Friday October 22nd. The postponement came about after the headliner, Chris Algieri, was forced to pull out due to a fractured metacarpal hand injury he suffered during training. The injury will put Algieri on the sidelines for three months, so Chris will not be able to headline on the 22nd, but Star Boxing and The Empire are currently working on a dynamite replacement bout, and for the most part the rest of the card is going to stay the same. More information on the card, including the new main event, will be announced shortly. All ticket sales for the 16th will be honored for the 22nd. For additional information call Star Boxing at (718) 823-2000.

Power-punching heavyweight title challenger Samuel "The Nigerian Nightmare" Peter remained calm during the press conference and the open training sessions for his Saturday rematch against IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko - even when normally reserved Klitschko taunted him with his championship belts and his antagonistic remarks. "I hear and see what they're trying to do, I just hope he comes to fight and not wrestle" said Peter. But Peter's manager, Ivaylo Gotzev, says Klitschko's unusually belligerent demeanor at the conference is a sure sign. "He's definitely uptight. I've known Wladimir for 15 years and he's starting to realize who will be in the other corner come Saturday night. That's why he's not himself this week. He's already having cold and sweaty Nigerian Nightmares!" Peter vs. Klitschko II will be held Saturday in Frankfurt, Germany at the Commerzbank Arena.
