(JUNE 30) Matthew Marsh, a former British champion is set to fight Kris Hughes for the vacant Commonwealth (British Empire) belt at the Rainton Meadows Arena, Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear on Friday July 23, 2010. Marsh has decided to stay in London for his pre-fight training camp. Universum now have three shows scheduled for July for a grand finish of the collaboration with network partner ZDF. On July 17th, Universum salvage the collapsed Zbib vs Gevor fight with WBO light heavyweight champ Juergen Braehmer defending the title against Spaniard Alejandro Lakatos, who at one time came close to upsetting then champ Dariusz Michalczewski but was stopped and have never reached the same heights since then. He does however hold the WBO European title. Headlining the show for ZDF is female flyweight queen Susi Kentikian. (JUNE 21) Jose Sulaiman, President of The World Boxing Council, regrets to inform of a day of mourning for the boxing family for the passing away in Karachi of Anwar Chowdri of Pakistan, the former President of AIBA. His wife and family were at his side when he passed away. Mr. Chowdri was a fine friend of the WBC, with whom AIBA had signed a mutual medical agreement during the annual WBC convention held in Moscow, Russia, in 1999. Mr. Chowdri held the presidency of AIBA for about 25 years and was a real leader of amateur boxing in the world. His leadership was the basis for enjoying a solid support from the affiliated nations for the dedication of his life to AIBA and amateur boxing, making loyalty and gratitude to his institution and his friends, the most sacred behavior of his life. May he rest in everlasting peace.

El Mais, and the rest for the Canadian Team left Puerto Rico for the Elite Continental Championships in Ecuador today.
