Star Boxing's Curtis "Showtime" Stevens (21-2, 15) showed why he is one of the most feared super middleweights in the world, with a sensational third round TKO over previously unbeaten Piotr Wilczewski (22-1, 7KO). Stevens came out in the first round firing, eventually dropping Wilczewski hard with a right uppercut. Luckily for Wilczewski the end of the round was near and he was able to survive. In the third a huge left uppercut from Stevens dropped Wilczewski hard again. He was able to get to his feet but was visibly still hurt. Stevens seized the opportunity and jumped all over Wilczewski. With Wilczewski being helplessly beaten against the ropes, the referee called a halt to the contest at 1:47 of the third round.It was a huge win for Stevens as he showed why he is a serious contender in the super middleweight division.

Legendary former world champion Arturo Gatti, 37, has reportedly been
found dead inside a beachside flat he was renting at the Hotel Dorisol
of Porto de Galinhas, Pernambuco, Brazil. Gatti had arrived with his
wife and baby on Friday on their honeymoon. Amanda Gatti reportedly
awoke to her husband laying dead on the floor of a condo that the pair
had rented in Northeast Brazil. Gatti reportedly had marks on his neck
and head that were made with a blunt instrument. Brazilian authorities
are investigating the suspected homicide.
A spokeswoman for the public safety department of Pernambuco released
the following statement: "There were no bullet or stab wounds on
his body, but police did find blood stains on the floor," she said,
adding that his wife and son were unhurt.

handed “Gorgeous”Andre Gorges his first loss, winning unanimously.
Gorges edged the first, while Lozano tried to figure out his opponent’s
awkward attacks. A fight on the inside proved the only way to beat
Gorges and, by the third, uppercuts on the inside put him ahead on the

MANAGUA, Nicaragua -- Alexis Arguello, 57-years old, found dead in his home. It has been reported that he had a gunshot wound in his chest. An autopsy is pending at this time. Alexis was one of the greatest and most exciting boxers in the history of men's boxing. He retired in 1995, with a record of 82-8 (65KO). CORK, Ireland (July 1, 2009) – Irish
boxing manager Gary Hyde, president of NTH Promotions, is seeking an
injunction to prevent 2-time Olympic champion Guillermo Rigondeaux from
fighting on the July 17th ESPN2 Friday Night Fights show in Las Vegas,
Nevada.
Rigondeaux (1-0, 1 KO), fighting as a bantamweight, now lives in Los
Angeles after defecting from Cuba, where he was a 7-time national

SEAL BEACH, California (July 1, 2009) — Gegard Mousasi has declared his fight against Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion, Renato “Babalu” Sobral an all-out war. “Sobral is so tough. When he comes, he comes to fight,” says Mousasi, as he trains for one of the biggest challenges of his career. Babalu Sobral ranks in the top ten of light heavyweights and has been training since Mousasi was a newborn.
