Antonio Margarito Dispells rumors
of returning to the ring
Source/PR
May 23, 2013
LOS ANGELES,
CA.-Surprised by recent articles claiming his
return to boxing ex World Champion Antonio
Margarito has announced that there is absolutely
no truth on a possible return to the sport or
that he is suffering from financial difficulties
due to a divorce. The Mexican fighter
hasn't been in the ring since his December 2011
rematch loss to Miguel Cotto. He announced his
retirement on June of last year. Currently, the
'Tijuana Tornado' is living in Los Angeles.
"I was surprised by several unfounded rumors
regarding my current situation, including news
on a return to boxing and supposedly a divorce
settlement that has left me broke and with the
need to return to boxing. In some cases, the
information dealt with news of my return, and
some unfounded news about a settlement. However,
some tabloid media has gone further than that,
spreading unfounded rumors that no one took the
trouble to investigate fully.", said Margarito.

Boxing Action at the Little Creek Casino
Resort in Shelton!
By Harvey Johnson
Photos by Sue TL Fox
May 21, 2013
(MAY 21)
On Saturday night at the Little Creek
Casino Resort, in Shelton, Washington, in front
of a packed house of boxing fans, promoted by
Roy Engelbrecht Promotions, there was an
exciting night of boxing action with six male
bouts on the card. The evening began when
the ring announcement called up all fighters to
the ring, and announced all boxers, and then had
each set of fighters, ready to fight this night
shake hands. MAIN EVENT: Mike Gavronski, 162.6, North Bend, Washington, TKO'd
Tyrone Selders in the sixth and final round. In
what was considered "The Fight of the Night",
the mainliner held the boxing fans captive as
this was a non-stop scheduled six-rounder,
from the first round until the sixth and final
round, where the fight ended in a TKO. Shortly
into the sixth, Gavronski landed a solid
right,the first 30 seconds of the round---and
then about a minute later or so, Gavronski
dropped Selders to the canvas. The ref
began his count as Selder's was sprawled on the
canvas, but Selders managed to get back onto his
feet, although appearing dazed and wobbly.
The fight continued but not for long, when
Gavroski threw a barrage of combinations
pinning Selders against the ropes. HBN saw
a wadded-up "white towel" thrown quickly into
the ring by Selder's corner ultimately ending
the fight by TKO, in favor of Gavronski.

King
Raheem Fighting June 1st in Tacoma, WA
for Battle at the Boat 92 May 21,
2013
Superstar King Raheem is once again headed to
Tacoma, WA to fight in the main event for
Halquist Productions’ Battle at the Boat 92 at
the Emerald Queen Casino. In March, after a two
year layoff from boxing, Raheem (32-3-0, 19
KO’s) dominated Santos Pakau (28-8-2, 11 KO’s)
in the official comeback to the sport he loves.
Battle at the Boat 92 is scheduled for Saturday,
June 1st at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma,
WA. Tickets for the event are still available
and can be purchased through ticketmaster.com
and at the Emerald Queen Casino box office.
Doors for the event will open at 6:00 PM with
the first fight scheduled for 7:00 PM. Raheem’s
next test on his path to become a world champion
will be Uganda’s Justin Juuko (45-11-1, 30
KO’s). Juuko, who has previously fought for the
WBC and WBA world titles, is expected to be a
good matchup for Zahir as he continues to get
back into fighting shape. It could be a very
intriguing night for Raheem as Juuko has fought
some of the best in the world including: Floyd
Mayweather Jr., Miguel Cotto, and Diego
Corrales. In Raheem’s last fight at Battle at
the Boat 91, Raheem was scheduled to go ten
rounds against Santos Pakau in a match that was
supposed to knock the rust off after not having
fought in over two years. He may still need time
to do that as Raheem went straight to work with
the jab and landed the TKO victory 2:20 into the
2nd round. The king’s boxing career has been
full of ups and downs. The Philadelphia native
accumulated a 213-4 amateur record and earned
the opportunity of a lifetime when he
participated in the 1996 Olympics with teammates
and some of boxing’s finest: Floyd Mayweather Jr,
Eric Morel, Fernando Vargas, David Reid, and
Antonio Tarver. After compiling a 26-1
professional record, Raheem got his next
opportunity to fight Mexican legend, Erik
Morales for the vacant WBC international title.
The fight was supposed to be a warm up fight for
Morales as he was scheduled to fight Manny
Pacquiao shortly after. Raheem surprised the
boxing world by defeating Morales with a
convincing unanimous decision and winning Ring
Magazine’s upset of the year award. Raheem
didn’t get the chance to fight Pacquiao like
many would believe, but instead landed a fight
with Acelino Freitas for the vacant WBO
lightweight title. After a back and forth war
with Freitas, Raheem lost the fight via heart
breaking split decision. Raheem hasn’t fought
for another world title since, but training out
of his “King Raheem’s Boxing and Cross Training”
gym in Atlanta, GA, signing with Halquist
Productions, and staying focused at once again
returning the top, he has every chance at
getting a title fight in the near future.
Statement from Andre Ward on the WBC
World Champion Emeritus Title May 21,
2013
Source/Team Ward
After careful thought and consideration with
my family and team, I have decided to relinquish
my WBC Super Middleweight World Champion
Emeritus Title. As has been recently reported,
the WBC elected to strip me of my world title
belt, making the upcoming bout between Sakio
Bika and Marco Antonio Periban for the vacant
Super Middleweight Title. After consultation
with my manager James Prince and attorney Josh
Dubin, it is my belief that the WBC did not have
the right to strip me of my World Title and name
me Champion Emeritus. We voiced our position to
the WBC, and after several discussions, have
agreed to disagree with their interpretation of
the facts and rules. In our opinion, we feel
strongly that I did not violate the rules in any
manner whatsoever. When I fought Chad
Dawson, there was no mandatory contender.
Subsequent to my victory, I injured my shoulder
but have remained ready, willing and able
todefend my title within the period specified by
the WBC's rules. Nonetheless, without what we
feel was appropriate due process, the WBC
elected to strip me of my World Title. I think
my track record in fighting the best opponents
available speaks for itself. I worked extremely
hard and dedicated my entire career to win and
defend my WBC belt. As a matter of principle, I
have chosen to stand up for what I believe is
right. I think the fans know and appreciate that
I am the Super Middleweight Champion of the
World, and I trust that I will continue to be
recognized assuch. I am back in training again,
feeling great, and excited about my return to
the ring.
Grant, Takam Ready to Clash In
Noisy-le-Grand May 21, 2013
Source/WBF
World Boxing Federation World Heavyweight
Champion Michael Grant is ready to make his
first title-defence in the hometown of tough
challenger Carlos Takam on Friday May 24. The
pair will clash at the Gymnase du Clos de
l'Arche in Noisy-le-Grand, France, on a show
promoted by accomplished and respected promoter
Joseph Germain. Grant, 48-4 (36), has been on
the sidelines waiting for a chance to defend his
title since winning it against Francois Botha in
South Africa in November 2011, and the massive
American is reportedly in great shape and eager
to return to action. Carlos Takam, 27-1 (21), is
the reigning WBF International champion, a title
he captured in March 2012 by stopping the
aforementioned Botha in eleven rounds, one round
quicker than Grant. The Cameroon-born 2004
Olympian has since tuned up for what will be his
careers biggest fight by scoring two non-title
victories. The Michael Grant vs. Carlos Takam
World Boxing Federation World Heavyweight title
fight is a classic confrontation of big-name
champion fighting to stay on top, against a
hungry challenger looking to make a name for
himself by dethroning the champion. Both are big
punchers, so the spectators in Noisy-le-Grand
can look forward to an explosive evening of
World Championship boxing!
Chris
Van Heerden comes to America on July
18th
May 20, 2013
In preparations for an imminent fight with
British contender Ashley Theophane, IBO
Welterweight champion Chris Van Heerden makes
another leap towards his dreams - heading to
America. On July 18th, Chris Van Heerden
will depart from his home area of Gauteng, SA
for New York City to begin a prolonged training
camp. He plans to get much work done in "The
city that never sleeps" with some of the best
sparring available - including African boxer
Thabiso Mchunu. This experience is well needed
for his fight with Theophane, which is expected
to take place "later this Summer" either in the
United Kingdom or New York, it will require his
most devoted focus in camp ever. Theophane is a
world-class fighter with a stiff jab, long reach
and superb boxing ability. Van Heerden will need
to siege control of the fight early to avoid
falling behind against his opponent.
As previously mentioned one of his main sparring
partners for this fight will be Crusierweight
title contender and heavily explosive boxer
Thabiso Mchunu. He is set to fight on August 3rd
in New York against Eddie Chambers. Mchunu can
mock a more engaging version of Theophane with
his long reach and capricious style of fighting.
He himself is gaining the opportunity of the
lifetime against Chambers and will be training
at an equally vigorous pace as Van Heerden. Team
Van Heerden is thrilled about the opportunity to
open to a wider audience. Training and perhaps
fighting in the United States will increase his
marketability on a much widened scale and allow
his career to blast off against the biggest
names in the fight game. Don't miss Chris
on Steve Bunce's Boxing Hour June 2nd in the
United Kingdom! He will be continuously
discussing his upcoming fight, his career and
future in the coming months.
Wild Will Tomlinson
Defeats Malcolm Klassen
May 20, 2013
In the face of adversity, 'Wild' Will
Tomlinson (21-0-1, 12 KOs) overcame a brave
performance from Malcolm 'Stone' Klassen
(27-6-2, 14 KOs) to retain his IBO
super-featherweight title via a controversial
unanimous points decision in an enthralling
battle of wills at The Melbourne Pavilion
overnight. All three judges looked favorably
towards the defending champion for his
controlled aggression and punch output,
distributing disputed verdicts of 117-110 and
118-109 twice in Tomlinson's favour. That said,
Klassen, 31, will leave Australia with his head
held high after pushing Tomlinson all the way
with a performance that many doubted he had in
him. Tomlinson, 26, came out aggressively and
was rewarded for it when referee Pete Podgorski
somewhat generously ruled what appeared to be a
Klassen slip in the closing staging of the
opening round as a knockdown. In hindsight, this
ruling benefited the viewing audience as Klassen
returned from his stool in the second round with
a renewed sense of urgency.

This past weekend from Miami, Oklahoma,
undefeated junior middleweight prospect John
“Apollo Kid” Thompson (12-0, 4 KO) and
up-and-coming middleweight powerhouse Antoine

Oklahoma, establishing themselves as two premier
rising stars. As part of Showtime Boxing, it was
Thompson’s TV debut, and he did more than simply
explode onto the scene; he showed the boxing
world that he is a force to be reckoned with in
their respective divisions. About the win,
handing opponent Giovany Rodriguez the first
loss of his career, Thompson commented, “It
means I have just stepped up my rankings and I
should start boxing some boxers who are more
skilled. It is a step closer to my goals. I
definitely have some things to work on since the
competition is only going to better. The better
the competition the better I am.” Thompson
dictated the pace of the fight from the onset of
the first round, utilizing his reach and power
to keep Rodriguez at bay with his solid jab.
Using his combo’s he dropped Rodriguez four
times through the fight to win the unanimous

returning to training camp in Las Vegas
following a press tour in connection with his
May 4 fight against Floyd Mayweather. As he was
checking in, he made sure to advise authorities
that they needed to be aware that he had a
firearm, which was unloaded and in a locked safe
box within his luggage which was to be checked.
Guerrero was carrying no ammunition and was
within his legal right to possess such firearm
in the state in which he resides. "I'm
pleased that the District Attorney's Office
considered my case carefully and resolved it
fairly," said Guerrero. "I never intended to
violate New York law, but I know that ignorance
of the law is not an excuse. Lesson learned. I'm
happy this incident is behind me and looking
forward to returning to the ring as well as
serving my community as ordered by the court."

Rockin Fights 8

Huntington, NY (May 12, 2013) Joe DeGuardia's
Star Boxing returned to professional boxing's
Long Island home, The Paramount in Huntington,
New York on Saturday night with another
installment of their sold-out Rockin
Fights series. "This was our
eighth event at The Paramount and the fans who
continually turn out in droves, each time
packing the house, have really made this a
special place for professional boxing" said
DeGuardia. In the main event, longtime
heavyweight contender Vinny Maddalone had the
Long Island faithful on their feet cheering on
his third round knockout of previously
undefeated Richard Carmack of Kansas City,
Missouri. With crunching hooks to the body and
power shots to the head throughout the first two
rounds, Maddalone, 37-8-0 (27KO's), earned the
stoppage, drilling the beefy Carmack, 12-1-0
(10KO's), to the canvas in the third round as
referee Tony Chiaranto called a halt to the
proceedings at the 2:57 mark.

Lucian Bute injured and cannot fight
Jean Pascal on May 25
May
11, 2013
As announced earlier by InterBox earlier,
Lucian Bute is injured and cannot fight Jean
Pascal on May 25 at the Bell Centre.
For GYM President Yvon Michel, who was
co-promoting the event with InterBox, this is
only a postponement of the greatest fight in
Canadian history. "Obviously, when we
first heard the news a few hours ago, we were
all in shock," Michel said. "This is part of
boxing and we are aware that we have to live and
deal with these contingencies. Our perception is
that this only a postponement. We ask Quebec to
show understanding and patience. We wish a
speedy recovery to Lucian." Jean Pascal
was also surprised to learn the bad news. "I was
so excited when I met with the media last week,"
Pascal commented from his Las Vegas training
camp. "I thought that I was in the best shape of
my life and very optimistic about my fight with
Bute. We now need to start over but I am a
professional. I know that these things happen
and I think that sooner or later, we will both
be in the ring to settle our differences. And I
would like to add that I would still fight on
May 25; I am ready to face anyone." GYM
and InterBox are currently in a research and
analysis solution mode. Full details will be
announced as soon as there are new developments.

NEW YORK (April 30, 2013) - More than 300
people attended this past Sunday's second annual
New York State Boxing Hall of Fame (NYSBHOF)
induction dinner, sponsored by Ring 8, at
Russo's On The Bay in Howard Beach, New York, as
20 inductees from the Class of 2013 were
honored. "This is the second year for the New
York State Boxing Hall of Fame," NYSBHOF and
Ring 8 president Bob Duffy explained. "This is
for New York but it could be the Brooklyn Boxing
Hall of Fame with so many of this year's
inductees from Brooklyn. The New York State
Boxing Hall of Fame is for New Yorkers and one
by New Yorkers. All of these inductees are
responsible New Yorkers. We remember their
services from the 40s, 50s and 60s, when boxing
was so big in New York, and it's big again
today. A lot of people in the audience will be
inducted for years to come. The dream of Tony
Mazzarella was to have the New York State Boxing
Hall of Fame - New Yorkers for New Yorkers."

Englebrecht
Signs California Golden Gloves Champion
Dwain Victorian
April
29, 2013
Newport Beach, CA.: Southern California fight
promoter Roy Englebrecht announced today the
signing of one of California's top amateur
boxers to a promotional agreement. 21 year old
lightweight Dwain Victorian, the 2012 California
Golden Gloves Champion and 2012 National Blue &
Gold State Champion signed with Englebrecht in
an office ceremony on Friday. "I am extremely
excited that Dwain has decided to sign with us,"
said Englebrecht. "As it is our goal to sign
only Southern California fighters, and with
Dwain being from Anaheim, it was a natural fit
for both of us. So for him to be able to make
his pro debut on our June 6th Fight Club OC show
before his family and friends is what Roy
Englebrecht Promotions is all about."
Victorian first stepped into a boxing gym in
Anaheim at 15 years of age and quickly found
success, winning the 2008 California PAL State
Title after just one year of training. Besides
his 2012 State titles, he also earned an
invitational spot on the USA National Team and
made it all the way to the quarter finals.
Victorian also excels outside the ring, as he

Alantez Fox Remains Undefeated
after winning by a decision over
Keith Collins
April 27, 2013
Boxing 360 promoted prospect Alantez Fox
remains undefeated after pitching a shutout
against Keith Collins on a card held at the
Hyatt Regency Hotel in Tulsa, Oklahoma this past
Thursday. Fox (11-0-1, 4KOs) was originally
slated to face Djolevi Ballogou on April 20th,
but after some unforeseen issues that prevented
Ballogou from competing Boxing360 quickly
stepped in and salvaged the effort Fox put forth
preparing for his initial date, delaying his
appearance by a mere 5 days. Fox earned the
unanimous decision victory over Collins by the
judges' scores of 60-54, 60-54, and 60-53.Fox was superb in his latest outing, showcasing a wider
range of skills not previously seen in his
earlier fights, proving he is improving quicker
than most prospects. At 21 years old, Fox is
already an impressive physical specimen, evident
of his last performance, but he feels he is
constantly getting stronger and believes he has
yet to reach his physical peak. "I felt
great and I want to thank Boxing 360 for
allowing me to do what I love, especially when
most guys in my position would've had to sit out
and wait several weeks or even months to compete
after a postponement. I honestly feel like I'm
getting stronger every day, my opponent was
lucky we fought when we did because another week
or so and I'd be even more dangerous, I truly
feel that way. My training camps aren't a chore
to me, I'm actually excited every day in the gym
to see how far I progress day to day," Fox said.
Fox didn't just show physical superiority, he
demonstrated a refined sense of boxing ability
as well.
"I'm confident in my skills, but I'm also a
student of the game and I know that even at the
highest level you have to continue to improve on
your craft. We were preparing for one guy and
then we had to quickly prepare for another, but
that's good experience for me and it never
changed the things we do in the gym to fine tune
my technical ability," Fox said. Mario
Yagobi of Boxing360 was happy to oblige Fox and
was pleased with the progress he's making thus
far in his career. He is looking to grant Fox
his wishes and keep him busy. "We'll get
him in there again real soon, that's what he
wants and it's refreshing to see a fighter who
truly loves to compete. I want to keep him busy
because it's what he wants, but I must admit
that as a fan I want to see him in the ring as
much as possible. It's astonishing how quickly
this kid is picking things up and it's fun
seeing him grow in the ring," Yagobi said.

Delvin Rodriguez vs. Freddy Hernandez
Headline ESPN Friday Night Fights - May
24th at the Mohegan Sun
April
22, 2013
Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing will return to
Mohegan Sun on Friday, MAY 24 with a sensational
ESPN Friday Night Fights card headlined by world
ranked contender and fan favorite Delvin
Rodriguez in a ten junior middleweight clash
against former world title challenger Freddy "EL
Riel" Hernandez. "We're very proud
to return to Mohegan Sun with another card
headlined by Delvin Rodriguez. Freddy Hernandez
is a very tough, experienced, former world title
challenger and this fight should provide
fireworks from the opening bell," said DeGuardia.
"Delvin is always a hot ticket at Mohegan Sun
and we encourage fans to purchase tickets in
advance for this terrific evening of world class
boxing." Fighting of out nearby Danbury, CT, and
known for his sensational all-action fights,
Rodriguez has been a staple at Mohegan Sun and
on ESPN Friday Night Fights, this being his
sixteenth appearance on the network and sixth at
the venue. On February 15, Rodriguez
triumphantly returned to the world-class venue
with a dominant sixth round stoppage of
previously undefeated George "Comanche Boy"
Tahdooahnippah which was broadcast on ESPN
Friday Night Fights. Included among Rodriguez'
outstanding career performances (27-6-3 15 KO's)
is the 2011 Fight of the Year against Pawel
Wolak (July 15) from the Roseland Ballroom in
New York City. The fight was non-stop action in
a brutal and historic epic battle. Battling to a
draw on ESPN Friday Night Fights in the first
bout, Rodriguez shined when they fought the
rematch at Madison Square Garden (December 3,
2011) displaying his full arsenal of boxing
skills in a dominant victory over Wolak.
Fighting out of Mexico City, Mexico, Hernandez
enters the ring with a record of 30-4-0
(20KO's), most recently challenging top rated
contender Demetrius Andrade on January25 in
front of a standing room only crowd at The
Paramount in Huntington, New York as part of the
acclaimed Star Boxing's "ROCKIN FIGHTS" series.
The always rough and exciting Hernandez was
Andrade's toughest test in the ten-round fight
the undefeated Andrade won by unanimous
decision. Included among the world champions and
other top rated contenders Hernandez has faced
are Andre Berto, Erislandy Lara, Luis Collazo,
DeMarcus Corley, Mike Anchondo, Jesus Soto-Karass
and Ben Tackie.
Alantez Fox to
fight on April 25th
April 20, 2013
April 20, 2013 -- Alantez Fox (10-0-1, 4 KOs)
will not be competing on April 20th as
scheduled, he was due to face Djolevi Ballogou
this weekend but those plans changed after
Ballogou was denied approval to compete. Fox
will not waste much time and is in fact already
rescheduled to compete on April 25th against a
new opponent. Fox will now take on late
replacement Keith Collins (4-22, 2 KOs) in
Oklahoma in an attempt to salvage an opportunity
to perform.
It's always disappointing to have a fight
cancelled, especially when the responsibility
falls on your opponent's shoulders, but Fox is
fortunate enough to stay on course and finish
what he started in camp. "I'm just happy I
didn't have to waste an entire training camp.
It's frustrating because you sacrifice and kill
yourself in the gym for the ultimate goal and
when you can't complete that goal it can feel
like a failure even if it wasn't your fault. My
main goal was obtaining more experience and it
feels good to not be cheated out of it, I have
my team to thank for that," Fox said.
Boxing360's Mario Yagobi was able to keep his
fighter active and he thinks that is the most
important aspect of bringing a fighter along.
"Injuries and other circumstances will occur
during a fighter's career and
cancelled/postponed fights are always going to
play a role in the fight game. There are few
fighters as committed as Fox to doing things the
right way, you have to reward guys like him and
work as hard as he does at making sure no effort
is made in vain," Yagobi said.

Spain’s Aitor “El Diamante” Nieto is the new
World Boxing Federation Latin Welterweight
Champion after lifting the vacant title on
Friday night, April 19, at the Florida Arena in
Oviedo, Spain. In front of an enthusiastic
crowd, Nieto scored a technical knockout over
countryman Sergei Mba, who didn’t answer the
bell for round eight. At the time of the
stoppage judges Jose Luis Cancela, Javier
Vasquez Garcia and Juan Ramon Prieto all had
Nieto ahead by scores of 69-65, 69-65 and 70-66.
In what was a competitive fight, both men had
their moments but Nieto appeared to be the
sharper boxer on the offensive and as the rounds
went by he took more and more control of the
fight. In round five Nieto scored a knockdown,
but Mba beat the count of referee Antonio Casas
and gamely fought back. However, two rounds
later he had had enough, and retired on his
stool. With the victory, Nieto captured his
professional careers first title and improved
his record to 9-1 (5). Mba, coming off five
straight victories, fell to 5-5-1 (2). The fight
was promoted by Nestor Dominguez.

King Raheem One Step Closer to a
World Title fight
April 16, 2013
Tacoma, WA – For the first
time in seven years, the future is looking bright for the kid out of
Philadelphia, Zahir Raheem. Boxing fans may be familiar with the name
from when he gained worldwide exposure in 2005 when he not only upset a
prime Erik Morales (48-2-0, 35 KO’s at the time), but dominated the man
who fans referred to as “El Terrible.” In the 2005 fight that was
aired on HBO from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Morales was a clear
favorite to win as it was simply a warm up fight for his upcoming prize
fight rematch against Manny Pacquiao. Raheem was in control from the
opening bell of the first round, using his jab and his speed to leave
Morales completely baffled. The fight went the distance and all three
judges awarded the fight to Raheem (118-110, 115-113, 116-112). Raheem’s
next fight would come seven months later against Acelino Freitas for the
vacant WBO lightweight title. The fight would be high paced with both
fighters throwing a flurry of punches showing off their speed and
stamina as the fight lasted all 12 rounds to put the winner in the
judges’ hands. One judge scored the fight in favor of Raheem 115-113;
however the other two judges favored Freitas 112-116 and 113-115. The
heartbreaking split decision loss would be Raheem’s last momentous
fight. Full Story

SIX-TIME
AND FOUR-DIVISION WORLD CHAMPION
ROBERT
"THE GHOST" GUERRERO
SHOWED
DETERMINATION IN LANDING FIGHT AGAINST
FLOYD "MONEY" MAYWEATHER
(APR 11) Six-Time and
Four-Division World Champion Robert "The
Ghost" Guerrero will attempt to hand
Eight-Time and Five-Division World Champion
Floyd "Money" Mayweather the
first loss of his professional career when they
face off on Saturday, May 4 at the MGM Grand
Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. in a fight which
will be produced and distributed live by
SHOWTIME PPV®.
While it has yet to be seen whether Guerrero's
faith can will him to victory as he has recently
claimed it will, it is evident that
determination has guided him to the biggest
fight of his career. Guerrero has shown that he
can certainly back up his talk with his actions
in the ring. In 2012, he won two back-to-back
bouts in the welterweight division and captured
the WBC Interim Welterweight World Championship,
making him the third fighter in boxing history
to win a world title at featherweight and
welterweight, joining the likes of legends Henry
Armstrong and Manny Pacquiao. Guerrero has also
joined the exclusive fraternity of fighters who
have jumped up two weight classes to win world
championships during their careers, a group
which includes Roberto Duran, Roy Jones Jr. and
Sugar Shane Mosley with only Guerrero and Jones
accomplishing the feat in their first fights in
their new weight classes. Lastly, he is one of
two Mexican American fighters to win world
titles in four divisions, the other being Oscar
De La Hoya.

junior middleweight contest Saturday, April 27

Lowry also owns victories over former interim
junior middleweight titlist Santiago Samaniego
and unbeaten knockout artist Travis Loveless,
who was 20-0 with 17 KO’s before meeting Lowry.

Joel
Diaz Jr. Remains Undefeated with Another
Knockout Victory
April 5, 2013
(APR 5) - Undefeated
super-featherweight prospect Joel Diaz Jr.
(12-0, 11 KOs) continued to impress the boxing
world with another knockout victory on the Lou
Savarese promoted show that took place at the
Bayou Event Center in Houston, Texas. The latest
fighter to suffer defeat to the hands of Diaz
was Houston native, Victor Sanchez (4-6-1, 1
KO), who had previously never been stopped. Diaz
was punishing Sanchez for the better part of the
fight before the referee halted the bout in the
5th round. Diaz was awarded a TKO victory and
improved on his unbeaten record. "After being
out of the ring for a few months I was really
eager to let my hands go tonight," said an
energized Joel Diaz Jr. "Sanchez was a very
tough fighter and I give him a lot of credit
going five tough rounds with me. He showed a lot
of heart, but I wasn't going to be denied
tonight. I'm ready to take my career to the next
level. My promoter Boxing 360 has big plans for
me in 2013 and I can't wait to get back in the
ring." Boxing 360 promoter Mario Yagobi believes
Joel Diaz Jr. is one of the top prospects in all
of boxing. Diaz who possessing a 90% knockout
ratio, is well on his way to becoming the top
prospect in the super-featherweight division.
"Right now Joel Diaz Jr. is the hottest prospect
in the world of boxing." said Yagobi. "Every
time he fights the fans rave of his performance,
style and punching power. He's getting better
with each fight because he's dedicated to the
sport. I'm working on getting right back in the
ring next week if things go as planned. The sky
is the limit for this kid and I'm excited about
his future."
KeAndrae "Lightning" Leatherwood has been
added to the undercard of Saul Alvarez
and Austin Trout's unification bout at
the Alamodome in San Antonio
April 5, 2013
Junior middleweight prospect KeAndrae
"Lightning" Leatherwood (12-2-1, 8 KOs) has been
added to the undercard of Saul Alvarez and
Austin Trout's unification bout at the Alamodome
in San Antonio, Texas which takes place April
20th. Boxing 360's Leatherwood will compete in a
10-round bout against Golden Boy Promotions
undefeated Julian Williams (11-0-1, 6 KOs) from
Philadelphia.
This will be Leatherwood's first professional
fight in Texas and he is being matched tough
with Williams coming off of two 7 round TKOs in
a row. The nickname "Lightning" is fitting for
Leatherwood, who possesses some of the fastest
hands in the division, but he will have to
prepare himself accordingly in order to perform
in a manner that captures the attention of a
predictably enthusiastic Texas crowd.
"I've regrouped and I know what I have to focus
on in order to produce the best possible
performances. My opponent is a talented guy, but
I haven't even hit my peak yet and my best
boxing is still to come. I know what I'm capable
of and I think the boxing world will take notice
once they see me put it all together,"
Leatherwood said. Leatherwood is looking to take
advantage of the high profiled feature bout and
hopes to capture the attention of an
enthusiastic crowd. "I know that the
atmosphere will be off the charts, it's going to
be a great night for boxing. I'm going to win
over some of those Latin fans and they will
leave the arena that night wanting to see me
again," Leatherwood said. Boxing 360's
Mario Yagobi is thrilled to see Leatherwood on
an undercard of this magnitude and he too sees
this as an opportunity for his fighter to gain a
new fan base. "It's a chance for KeAndrae
to show his skills in front of a completely new
geographical demographic. Texas fans know boxing
and the expected crowd in San Antonio will be an
enlightened bunch. Those fans are capable of
appreciating a fighter's talents and they will
recognize KeAndrae's when he displays his speed,
versatility and other attributes," said
Leatherwood's promoter Mario Yagobi of Boxing
360.

Interim Super Lightweight World Champion Pablo
Cesar "El Demoledor" Cano (25-2-1, 19 KO's) made
a big impression on the boxing world when he
took a last minute fight with future Hall of
Famer Erik "El Terrible" Morales in 2011 in
which he went 11 hard rounds before losing to
the Mexican superstar. In his 147-pound debut
last October he impressed once again when he
went 12 hard-fought rounds with WBA Welterweight
World Champion Paulie "Magic Man" Malignaggi,
scoring an 11th round knockdown before losing a
controversial split decision. Undeterred, the
23-year-old Cano has the opportunity to not just
get back on a winning track, but to defeat a
legend on May 18.
Short in stature but with a big heart, Saul
"Baby" Juarez will do anything to win a world
championship. He has already won two belts at
light flyweight: The 2010 Golden Belt and the
USNBC´S World Boxing Council title.
This "Baby" brings
boxing in the blood. His father Raul "Chamaco"
Lopez and his brother, Raul "Baby" Juarez were
fighters. His father fought against the Mexican
boxing legend Salvador Sanchez among many
others. He trained with the legendary Arturo "El
Cuyo" Hernandez, while his brother
unsuccessfully contested the WBC and IBF world
crowns. Full Story
